Re: I'm getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
No mansions in Karachi?!? Bibi, when was the last time you went to KHI?!?
If you're well connected enough and have deep pockets or know people with deep pockets, then tracking down a private residence is they way to go. I've been to plenty of weddings in Karachi at private mansions/homes whose lawns/grounds would blow your socks off
Haha yeah i haven't been to Pak since the last 15 years.
Could you maybe give me a location or something for those kinds of residence or mansions?
Re: I’m getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
Aren’t these located outside the city? I was hoping for something in a safer area maybe? My cousins from karachi told me that people avoid going to places outside defence area? And yes i will need to go over 200k i guess ( ._.)
Re: I’m getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
KDA, Defence, Clifton, Bahadurabad…these are areas where I have personally seen/attended weddings, dholkis, mehndis and parties at some very, very posh residences and mansions with the most amazing grounds and lawns. My sisters inlaws, as well as close family friends of ours live in these parts of the city..they are all filthy rich industrialists/ “old money” families.
Your best bet is to find yourself a good, well connected weddings and event planner who has access to these types of residences. A good wedding planner will know who is willing to rent out their house, or like SGC suggested, the houses that are depicted in dramas are usually private residences that have been rented. My sister’s brother in law rented his home out to a drama serial for filming once back in the 90’s.
I can’t really give you exact addresses or names for confidentiality reasons, obviously, but go the event planner route for your best bet.
Try the Karachi Snob website..plenty of listings for event management and wedding planners…
Re: I'm getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
If you go for a planner then add some more g's and it's gonna be way out of your budget so it's better to find an open space or ground and these are a lot in Karachi and then pay some money to rent it which is not a lot like the one just opposite Sir Syed Uni and do whatever you want with it and it's not expensive either.
Re: I'm getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
Good points.
My Budget is 150k for the place?
I get married next year July
Good decor is light colors, air conditioned if it's summers, nice tables and chair and not the white cover wali tables and chairs :| some really nice flowers etc.
I live in Canada but yes i do have people who can go and check out the place and look after everything.
Thank you so much :)
If you want air conditioned then you've to go for banquet option and it's expensive because my cousin's wedding gonna be at the same time next year in Karachi and the banquet cost them 400k alone.

Re: I'm getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
No place in Karachi is safe any longer. It's ranked as one of the most dangerous places in the world to live and visit so I would also allocate a portion of your budget to security - and frankly, I'd rather an enclosed space like a private house, hotel or a banquet hall than an open field where it's obvious a big celebration is taking place. Low key is the name of the game.

Don't create hype like other overseas Pakistanis and from mostly who're not even from Karachi.
Go ahead man and nothing to worry just be cautious whatever you do and this applies not only for Karachi but for whole Pakistan. Most of the wedding gardens have their own security if you are going for one and if you're going for custom setup in an open ground, it's still fine as it depends on your venue and you must not be going to Korangi, Orangi or Lyari, lol then np. Still you've any concern then try to find some contacts in police so they can provide you security on your big day for some money(obviously) lol.
Re: I'm getting married in Karachi, and i need help!
Okay no such thing as a specific "safe" area, got it! So i saw these wedding pictures from a PAF Museum Hall? It was really neat, green and NICE, sort of exactly like the place I'm hoping for!! :D Can anybody give me more info about that place? :)

Maybe you should snap out of your denial. The very common things Karachi'ites have come to see as "normal" occurrences like home invasions, kidnappings, muggings, car robberies etc. are in no way normal nor are they part of a safe city. It's not "hype" to caution people to be safe especially if they are coming from abroad. If you have no other choice, you live with it, but that doesn't change the truth of it.

Are these only happening in Karachi? My argument with you is that you're only picking Karachi and if you speak about safety then whole Pakistan is unsafe. You're speaking like no human lives there and no weddings take place in Karachi. How many weddings you've heard looted in Karachi? except few only in such areas described above. There not a single day passes when there is no wedding in Karachi. What about those people? Aren't they human beings or only foreigners are who needs security? For your info madam I'm also in Canada so don't judge me by my comments. Yes I born and bred there spent a great deal of life there so I know each and everything of Karachi and I came last year after spending 2.5 years there so please don't argue and you can't with the person who lived there.

It's a good place and I've only seen only big weddings there like 1k+ but they closed it for weddings after Mehran base attack in 2011. Not sure if they're renting it for weddings or not.

You're right- it's not just Karachi, it IS the whole country that is unsafe. And like I said, if you have no choice, you deal and it sucks but there you go. I have plenty of family there and I know firsthand what their lives are like. And no, they don't live in Orangi or wherever- they live in Defence and other areas that used to be safer. Plus I've lived there too. So if someone asks about getting married there, you can bet I'll be telling them to be careful and aware of the violence and the crazy frequency with which it takes place. Pakistan IS an unsafe place and Karachi isn't safe- those are facts.
