"I'm a girl cus..."

so, yesterday as i was getting things ready to leave from childcare, i overheard the minder talking to Heba’s best friends mother about what happened in the toilets.

These kids are all b/w 2-3 and they’re a good mix of boys and girls. Also, most of them are going through potty training.. hence they share the same toilets… because the kids are so young, he toilets only have small partitions and not doors (for obvious reasons)

now, Heba’s best friend, is sitting on one toilet and a lil boy on the one next to hers and the minder overhears

Heba’s bf: "I’m a girl cus i have this… "
Lil boy: “I’m a boy cus i have this…”

apparently they were both showing each other their private parts.. and the minder quickly told them to pull their pants back up..

now, im a bit concerned about Heba picking this up… how do u deal with it? The mother and minder were both quite embarrassed… and im just a bit concerned

Re: "I'm a girl cus..."

:D I've wondered the same thing, how to deal with the questions about private parts. They're at the stage where they notice things and even if it's just somebody changing their baby's diaper, they'll notice the difference.

Re: "I'm a girl cus..."

that's why i dont like kids to send in day care....what ever to teach them in home but they will definly gonna catch things from out side...

and even many kids who sleep with thier parents the see how thier parents kiss or hug and when kids play with eachother they do the same things...

Re: "I'm a girl cus..."

^ thats no reason not to send them.

Plus, I think its the first time its happened.. and the mother was explaining how her daughter may have picked it up from an older cousin.

Im just wondering, how do you teach them that these are not things to be discussed so openly. I know they are just innocent and have no idea, but there are very sick and perverted people out there... how do we protect them against the sinful

Re: "I'm a girl cus..."

When things like this happen, its a wonderful opportunity to start discussion about "private" parts with the littles. Those parts are not for anyone to touch or look at, they are private and if you need help from your teacher/minder while you use the potty, thats fine. But those parts are yours and they are private, not to be seen or touched by anyone and its very rude to look at the private parts of others etc etc.
