The prophets were granted knowledge of the unseen by Allah, but what are Islam’s views on ilm ul ghaib/kashf granted to people like Sufis or the very pious?
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
Does kashf exist or not? it does, there is a famous incident of hadrat umer:razi: ordering hadrat sariya:razi: to take cover of mountain when hadrat umer
was in madina and hadrat sariya:razi: was in battle field.
However Kashf is not some thing directly related to piousness, even hindu jogis at times have true kashf. This occurs when you have some control over your nafs then such things occur , so we should not consider this as a benchmark for buzurgi.
Dajjal will have many powers and those who relate kashf waghaira to buzurgi will follow dajjal.
This does not mean that pious people dont have kashf, it is just that the basic criteria for this is same and that also is not in the control of person , it is just ALLAH Subhanwataallahs will and nothing else. Some time people dont even know that they had kashf of some thing.
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
Peace redvelvet,
First of all I think and we should try to understand that Ilm-e-ghaib/kashf in Islam is through Angels. Our Prophet Muhammad
was always get contacted through Jibrael a.s., So if a Sufi, Awliyah, or any pious is ever contacted then it could be through Angels only. So in that case yes Ilm-e-ghaib/kashf is granted. But if see in other way then our Prophet Muhammad
said ‘Your religion is completed now and there is no any Prophet after me b’coz He
is the seal of the Prophets’, then a question arise when religion is completed and also Prophethood is sealed then why Almighty needed to give/grant Ilm-e-ghaib/kashf? I think Sufi, Awliya and any pious person is only granted ‘wisdom’ and not Ilm-e-ghaib.
I read a hadith narrated that if one person needed wisdom, Almighty Allah grants him/her widsom but only in one condition that he/she spend forty (40) days in the way of Almighty Allah then only he/she will be granted.
Another way to explain the first phrase that the soothsayers, readers of lines on hands etc., how do know about someone’s future or able to predict something going to occur in future?, b’coz they were contacted by ‘Demons’. If we believe in this then there should be no doubt to believe in what mentioned in first phrase.
Some Verse(s) from Qur’an and Hadith(s) prove it. This is what I think. Rest Almighty Allah knows best.
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
Angels do not have free will. They have contacted the prophets only because they were ordered by the Almighty Allah.
The Jinns on the other hand have free will and evil Jinns do not need permission to contact humans. And this is where so the so called ilm-e-ghaib comes into play. There are plenty of Pirs and Aalims indulging in Black Magic through these Jinns.
Then there is also a related topic of devil worship and freemasonry. But thats a different thread and topic.
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
Peace Sheeda Pistol,
Nice post. But I was thinking if there are some evil jinns then no doubt the good jinns also do exist and like evil jinns, they also don't need permission to contact humans. So the Pirs and Aalims could be also indulging in White Magic through these good jinns.
I think it only is possible when Almighty Allah wills.
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
Aalim-ul-Gaib is Allah alone and He grants some of the knowledge to His chosen men including prophets. Now remember the hadith that nothing is left of prophet-hood except 'roya asaadiqa' so Allah may grant some knowledge of unseen to his near-ones thru dreams and visions. roya-asaadiqa are not just dreams that happen to be true and any ordinary person may experience. Remember, it is 46th part of prophethood
Re: Ilm-e-Ghaib
:salam2: & Peace kchughtai,
