Illinois senate race- rants and raves

So there I was at a Barak Obama political event this weekend, not because I am a democrat or anything but because I have been very disappointed by Illinois republicans.

The whole race for GOP has been a mess, first they drag out Jack Ryan, who was def not the best that could have been offered..but heck..with slim pickins among candidates he was leading, until the details of his divorce case were made public and his sec club story made headlines.

Since then GOP has been busy trying to coax various people into running, teh goal does not seem to be to find someone who knows illinois and can represent illinois, but just someone who can win.

First they got after Coach Ditka, who although is a popular guy, is not really a politician and has no real grounding in it, he turned them down anyways..then they try this person or that person until they drag out former presidential candidate Alan Keyes (no relations to alicia keyes from what I have been told)..Alan moves to chicago, rents some place and starts yip yapping as if he knows illinois..or chicago for that matter.

It is hard to believe that there are no other candidates that GOP can produce which could compete against Barak. The land that produced Lincoln and Reagan now has to go to Baltimore to find someone who can win.

GOP needs to come to illinois and clean house. Judy Barr Topinka and other state GOP leaders are ineffective and have done zilch to grow a strong new generation of GOP leaders.

And we should care about Illinois' Senate race because...? :-D

J/k.

Anyway, I think Barak is good and should win. We need more diversity in the US Senate.

Alan Keyes? isn't he the same guy who have been picked up from Maryland? damn he sweats more than a pig does in hot summer days.

Well.. picking Alan Keyes shows how far Reps have to go to find a black man in their party.

we should care because the %age of senators/reps from each party has an impact.

I still dont know why they had to drag out Alan Keyes, he is not even from Chicago. If it were just a question of getting some african american who is popular, why not get snoop dogg to run..sheesh

whatever happened to the parties supporting the best candidates who understood the issues and aspirations of the people among whom they ahve been iving, and who they want to represent.

Alan keyes is such a hypocrite, he bashed Hillary Clinton when she was running for New York senate because she was not a resident of New York state, but now he him self lives in Maryland.
In 2000, here's what an indignant Alan Keyes had to say about Hillary Clinton running for the Senate in New York State: "I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton's willingness to go into a state she doesn't even live in and pretend to represent the people there," Keyes said. "So I certainly wouldn't imitate it." What a moron!
