When I get to dubai where can I buy one from and how much will it cost me?

For tourists, only "prepaid" (WASEL) SIM card is available. It has the same price of AED.165/- regardless of the place you buy it from. It can be purchased from the airport arrival lounge or any other resellers through out the city. But when you buy, make sure you instruct the retailer to activate it immediately. Most resellers sell it to the customers but do not activate it. It must be active within an hour of the purchase. Also, make sure you give them your passport copy or they'd issue it on their staff's name which may create complications later on.

You get a credit of AED.10/- to make outgoing calls. More credit can be purchased in the form of prepaid telephone calling/top-up cards of AED.30/- which are available in the local market for AED.27.50. These credit available on these cards can be added to your SIM card by dialing 120+the scratch top-up card number.

The local call charges are 24 fils per minute during the peak hours and 18 fils during the off peak hours. The off peak hours are from 12 midnight (for mobile calls) until 7am and 2 - 4 in the after noon. To call back to Pakistan AED.2.40 per minute during the peak hours and AED.1.89 during the off peak hours. The off peak hours for Pakistan is 9pm - 7am and 2 - 4 in the afternoon.

The WASEL subscription is valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be renewed for AED.100/- every year. This SIM card can be used in other countires also (especially european countries). You just have to have sufficient balance to make/receive calls.
