Well, we have had a legend of the month thread with a great ice hockey player and yet we didnt discuss the present events at Canada, where top players match up against each other to prove their skills on international level.

The favourite teams have qualified for the quarters.

I’d like to see a new feature easying up the work for fellow Guppies and me, instead of having to use a function and future like “CODE” which is no better than using “quote”. Formatting is an head ache ppl!

Back to the topic Itself.

I’d like to have comments on upcoming games and/or teams. Criticsm on the teams, the stadiums, the event Itself…etc.

Re: IIHF -- World Championship 2008 in Canada

It seems that they have rescheduled some of the quarter finals.
Russia vs. Switzerland and USA vs. Finland will be played on the 15.05.2008.

I wouldnt miss any of these two matches.

Re: IIHF -- World Championship 2008 in Canada

Two semi-finals on Friday, followed by Gold and Bronze Medal games, pretty big.

Seems USA has grabbed 6th place in the rankings. RUS vs. FIN and CAN vs. SWE. Which two teams look strong?

Re: IIHF -- World Championship 2008 in Canada

Russia and Canada advance from the play-off round semi-finals onto the final stage. FIN vs. SWE for the bronze medal game, followed by the final gold medal game. Canada vs. Russia should be interesting.

Re: IIHF – World Championship 2008 in Canada

Brother,

most of the Top Players are playing for the Stanley Cup for right now.

Why did Sweden lose against Switzerland? because the swedes grand line is playing for the Stanely Cup Finals right now. Zetteberg, Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Kronwall, Lidstrom (Captain of Sweden) are all playing for the Red Wings right.

The only complete teams are Canada, Finland, USA (Chelios is missing, look at this grand daddy of hockey, playing with 46 for the Red Wings in the Western Conference Finals), Germany and the other teams…

besides that I’m curious to know why the World Championships are held at this time of year when the teams are playing for the Stanley Cup :chai:

Re: IIHF – World Championship 2008 in Canada

Its sad so see that even If the games were held parrallel to the Stanley Cup, that Canadian interested was very low. Is It due to lack of interest in international ice hockey? I noticed half filled stadiums and a very boring crowd (except for the finals). Is the quality not good enough for the Canadian crowd?

Well anyways Russia ( MY TEAM!!) beat Canada and became World Champions the first time ever after UDSSRs break up.

Congratulations RUSSIA :hula: :hula:

I told ya, the teams are playing for Lord Stanley...The greatest Cup in hockey, even a World Championship is nothing compared to this. It is so...

This is why I can't understand that the Championships were held during the Playoffs. The best hockey Players in the World are playing. Didn't u see sweden playing without their top 5? They r all playing for the Wings in the Stanley Cup Final.
