I know we have an ignore option, which allow us to ignore someone .. but is there any option somwhere that I might not know about .. if u ignore particular person* that* person won’t be able to see u online and even better won’t be able to read ur messages at alll?

I think we neeed to fix the ignore option.. as if we cant even c the “this user is on ur ignore list, click here to see”, like even if they’ve posted in the thread, it looks like they haven’t posted..itz kinda annnoying..i awnna ignore someone and be able to browse peacefully

The ignore option is not the same as the "block" option in some IM's.
This is purely for your own browsing and not to block someone from being able to see your online presence.
If you post something, anyone can see what you posted. If you put someone in your ignore list, their presence is somewhat less visible to you ONLY!

EMM think of it this way: If you block me and don't want me to read your posts, I have 2 options and I can still read your posts:
- Log out and read as unregistered.
- Log in with my other ID and enjoy your posts

ok suppose , may be u r successful in ignoring a person ....thn wht abt multi nicks... wht abt tht ...the person may again approach u with his/her other nicks .......so same probem exist ....Ignoring of no use ...
thn i think the perfect possible solution is tht ...u have to ban his IP ...so tht he can t be able to login gs..forever...soo he can t approch u ...hence u no more need to ignore him ...hahaa
thts all could be possible ...only just a little moderator helps required .

Ban Shikra's IP and I won't be able to log in from home. But hey, I can join gupshup again when I go to work and come back with a completely different ID and personality. I'll just browse gupshup while I am at work.
It's web, there is no privacy online. There is a way around everything.

^ Lets say there is a thread that I find really interesting and I want you to see reply # 20. But wait, you have a different reply #20 (which is really #21 for me) because you have ignored a person and his/her reply is completely deleted from your view of the same thread.
I don't think it's possible, from a programming POV, but even if it is, it really doesn't make any sense. If you are ignoring someone, that little message shouldn't change your opinion about un-ignoring that person to see what he/she has written because you shouldn't care :p
