if mod wants to delete it from here, put it in religion.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

I asked him to delete it because he didn’t want to have zabiha debate in his thread. the obvious is not so obvious to you after all.

Reincarnation, wow that was lot off of steam.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

The purpose of this thread was to list non-desi restaurants that serve food suitable for iftari, in other words resembles closest to out usual desi ifatri items.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

I like Sweet Water Tavern/Silverado's/Mikes Grill, same chain of restaurants. The bread balls they give out with sweetened whipped buetter is just mmmmm sooooo darn good. Food is good too.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

Parree,

There is this Spanish dish with some cheese between two rottis and some salad, that sounded like the best option last Ramadhan.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

Femme, only eating the complementary bread served before ordering doesn't count as a visit to the restaurant. Khaaya kya thaa?

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

I usually have their grilled salmon which is very very moist. Come with some sauce and mashed potatoes. They also serve hickory grilled fish with rice or angel hair pasta and some sort of salsa(varies) which was very good. Then this other chicken dish of their is good too, don;t remember the name since i usually have their fish. Their cheese/spinach dip with tortilla chips(appetizer) is soooooooooo good. and their icecream on waffle with hot fudge is just mmmmmmmmmmm.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

eh? HOW Mr Fungum can you get “food closest to desi iftari items” from “other than desi” sources? WHO makes Sheer korma with all that unholy fat filled whole milk, or deep deep deep fries balls of GUMP and then dunks them with a THUD in excessively gooey-ly syrup perfumed like condensed versions of Taif rose gardens? AND who else - if not desis - mince those otherwise decent-sized palm-chucking almonds, pistachios and cashews into disrespectable puffs meant to be lightly sprinkled here and there and everywhere like drizzle before the storm? Good luck finding one culture with any shred of humanity to it that will willingly lay claim to orphaned kajukatris, kalakands, chumchums, meteor-sized baasi aloo key samosey, recycled extra-milky home-made yogurt with pooh-sized dahi badey and chappli kababs that taste and look like chappals… I wish you well.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

The cheesecake factory is good, lots of variety, you might wanna try that if there is one near you.

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

Re: Iftari at a non-desi restaurant

I think the potatoe wedges sold at KFC are almost like aaloo kay pakoRRay

Red Lobster's appetizer sampler platter is just like fried stuff at iftari

and so on...
