iftar party and dinner menu

Re: iftar party and dinner menu

OP, you should consider if you are serving the dinner before Taraweeh or after taraweeh.
if you are serving it before tarawaeeh prayers then you won’t have much time in between the iftar time and esha time. so i suggest that you keep only one dish for dinner as people can not have a full fledged dinner right after the iftari anyways.
so a dish like pulao or biryani or better yet Chinese dish like fried rice with chicken Manchurian/sweet n sour chicken/garlic chicken etc would go better. If you want to keep a curry based dish as well, then i recommend not to keep shermals or naans with it as one tend to get heavy with it. Keep chappatis.
for dessert, just keep icecream or kulfi.

for Iftar: If you can, then get the frozen packs of samosas and spring rolls and fry. but if you must make them at home then either do samosas or rolls.
Make chana chat, you can boil a day before and mix up with spices, onions, yogurt. that would be easy.
Fruit chaat for 25 guests would be labour intensive as some of here have suggested, so omit that.
make pakoras and kebabs
keep sherbat/drinks/milkshake/tea and dates and that should be a fine iftari.

Re: iftar party and dinner menu

Light Dinner can be a pulao and chicken Salan to go with it. May be you can add shami kababs to it as they are lighter and healtheir too.
Like i previously said fruit chaat is hectic and all others also recommending same to you. If you want lighter then i agree with RV that omit Dahi Baras, Chana chaat is lighter.
Our rozas are short but I presented Iftar and dinner all together. Men just had khujoor and went to masjid for Maghrib then before taraweeh they came and had iftar cum dinner. Although our taraweeh here finish at around 9:30 but people are more keen to go hoe before it. However my close friends stayed and as it was weekend they left at around 11. After coming back from taraweeh I presented men with the things to eat. However I made lots of items so many things were spare.
