so sorry that i havent been active on this forum been super busy with home life hope y’all forgive me anyways i have a friend and her mum coming over for iftaar next saturday
i have decided to have 3 main dishes and one sweet (too little?) or? with the usual khajoor and fruits
so far i have decided on only one dish with is chicken cheese balls? and am stuck on the rest
Ok so chicken cheese balls are fried I’m assuming, right? So no need for pakoras or samosas. Do a chaat type dish (either mixed papdi chaat or dahi barra chaat) and for your third dish you can have sandwiches or puff pastry type patties. If you want to go kind of gourmet you could do flatbreads.
Those, along with the requisite fruits and khajoor will be a pretty substantial Iftar. Are you also serving dinner afterwards?
You’re going to have iftari, dinner and dessert, right?
So…for dinner…the chicken tikka masala and a rice dish will be fine. For a third dinner dish you can have a vegetable salan like palak …that’ll make a balanced dinner. Or, if you don’t want a veg dish…then have beef kababs. That way for dinner you have two dishes made with different meats and a rice dish. You can also add salad and chutney and it will be even more complete. To make things easy just get a premade salad bag from the grocery store, add cucumbers and tomatoes and you’re good to go.
The chicken-cheese balls can be used in for iftar. Opt for a non fried item such as baked stuffed pastries (patties), and a chaat. You can either do a fruit chaat or chana chaat…or both. Chana chaat is less work as there’s less chopping to do. Or you can skip the patties and do your pizza swirls instead. If you want …you can add a fun drink such as sharbat or rooh afza or lassi. Lassi may be more work. U can get a bottle of mango squash syrup…and all u have to do is mix with water and the drink is done. So iftar will be chicken cheese balls, pizza swirls, chaat, and a refreshing drink.
For dessert…one sweet dish is fine. It could be a trifle, or halwa, cake etc. if you want to do two desserts…then make one n buy the other to save time/energy. But really one dessert for three people is enuf.
