Iftar boxes

Since I religiously send out whatever I feel like, the entire mohala has started a food chain now. Only issue is that we don’t have many good cooks in our mohala  Or majority likes pakoRe and stuff like that, and we don’t really enjoy them that much. The other day a paRosan sent us gajar ka halwa that needed to be bhoonofied. Ammi insists that we eat 'em but they end up in the fridge and I throw 'em out when I clean the area during weekends. So what do you do with iftar boxes, if you don’t feel like eating them? We could send it on a round in the mohala, but what if it gets back to the originator again? Desi logoN ka kya bharosa :o

We could also give 'em to our gora neighbors but this option could be quite dangerous, if we start feeding them pakoRe every day.

Any other option?

mix all the sweet things in one bowl and all the salty things in the other… add some spices in the salty ones and dryfruits and cream in the sweet ones… mix them and heat them and then send them back to where it all came :smooth:

no one will know what it is and i hope it will taste better than what they had sent :stuck_out_tongue:

Hiya,

Just a thought, but you could try giving the food to a local mosque.. I know here lots of people go to the mosque to open their fasts.

Or, I volunteer at this Place for Children who have been sexually and physically abused.. they love to get treats from all over the place...you could take things to a charity like that...

just some ideas... but I know how hard it is to get rid of food you dont want...and you feel bad that it is getting wasted...Good luck!!

Stop sending dishes to their house. They will eventually stop reciprocating too.

send it to your masjid..
but dont send something which you wouldnt eat yourself, that defeats the purpose of giving..

how about fixing the dish..maybe you can bhonofy the gajar ka halwa and add some milk and khoya to it and use it..

another thing you can do..if any of your family members work with desis give those food items to them as iftars..

pakoras can be made into kurhi and can be given to someone or by your family..

other dishes vegetables/ meat related items can be mixed with flour and made as roti/paratha.
