Ifs and buts would only stay where the prophet (saw) showed flexibilty and didn't give a clear order. Like the prophet (saw) never said that you should only use swords to fight, but he clearly ordered muslim men to keep beards and muslim women to cover their heads irrespective of time and place.
regarding muslim women covering their heads irrespective of time and place... it is literally not pratical or possible.
Quran have detailed the order concerning Hijab ( Sura-e-Ahzaab), Prophet's (PBUH) order should be seen in its pre-text and shouldn't be taken and applied in all scenarios. I am not saying that certain order didn't exist but saying that it should have certain circumstances, e.g. when women goes in front of elders she should have her head covered.. or something of this kind.
