I have been doing extensive research on this, because well, I get tired of the daily routine that we go through for hair removal.
I have compiled this information from extensive reading and am putting it here so that you can hopefully benefit from it. Insha’Allah. If you want references I can provide them.
Okay, first of all, there are only two known methods of permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal and electrolysis. No other method permanently removes hair. Not shaving, not creams, not patches, not sprays, etc.
Laser Hair Removal:
Works best on those with very fair skin (i.e. white) and dark hair. Doesnt work as well on those with more tan colored skin, or those with blondish hair, or those not very fair. (This isnt to say it doesnt work at all, just not as well.) I called one of the top laser clinics in my city and the Doctor told me that permanent laser hair removal may not be so permanent due to my skin color. So he verified what I had been reading. The type of laser you use is important, and many top clinics use more than one type of laser. It is best to go to a clinic that has the doctor do the work, rather than the technicians, though this isnt necessary of course. Laser feels like someone is snapping you with a rubber band. Improper technique can result in scarring, therefore you need a good clinic.
Electrolysis:
Works best for those with “non-white” skin and those with lighter hair color. There is only ONE type of electrolysis that can guarantee to result in some permanent hair-loss. This is needle electrolysis. Tweezer electrolysis or any other type may not result in permanent results. So if you’re going to your local salon and the lady there uses a tweezer and not a needle and she is telling you that its guaranteed to result in permanent hair loss, I would suggest you find another person/salon. Perhaps it worked on the odd one or two people, but if you do your research, you will find only needle electrolysis is guaranteed. It is not suggested you do needle electrolysis on your own because it can easily burn your skin and scar you for life if not done properly, not to mention it takes an enormous amount of time to do properly. It doesnt pierce your skin. Theres a website that explains this process well, if you need it just PM me or mention here and I will PM you.
Elecrolysis can take anywhere from 6 months of treatment to 36 months or more of treatment to achieve permanent hair removal. About 10% of people never see permanent results (according to a study). In the US, electrolysis is regulated state-by-state. This is because it can result in damage to the skin if not done properly.
