If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!

There is a particular school of desi thought which claims that we shouldn’t show our happiness to the world for fear of nazr. While I agree with that wholly, ie that there is nazr and you should steer clear of it as much as you can, I don’t believe that hiding joys from everyone is the way to go.
Simply because I think that joy shared is joy multiplied, and part of the process of being happy is expression of happiness.
There are small joys in life which properly appreciated and expressed yield a huge return. Laughter and smiles, excited gestures, little dances, all that jazz.

Do you think that people who remain close lipped about their happiness are missing out? Do they really truly enjoy the blessings which bring happiness as much as those who go bouncing around declaring to all and sundry how great life is?

Idiots. What ever happened to living life in moderation and in line with personal growth and development. Desis spend way too much time thinking what others will think.

{I have heard of "raise your hand if you are sure. This is a new one, clap your hands if you are happy. But I digress}

Maybe I would rephrase it - rather than show everyone happy one is, one can try to* share *that happiness with others
