ive noticed that if you marry out of family, the in laws go over board trying to impress each other. but with inter family marriages, no one needs to do the impressing as much.
and i dnt wana get rid of him hes the most generous man ever, if his mums different well what can we do...
Nadzz just be grateful. Your Aunty shouldnt have divulged this info to your family. They have just soured your introduction into married life.
Ignore it, move on, you're getting the best thing your MIL could ever give and that's her son. He is worth more than any sona in the world.

Not all mother in laws are bad, my mum splashed out on my sis in law like there was no tomorrow. Her family, who are reasonably well off, spent very little on everything, inc. gold, clothes, the function but its understandable since they had another 2 daughter to marry (1 now)
MILS can be like mothers, my mum treats my sis in law like a daughter, heck sometimes even more of a daughter than me.
You've gotta take a lot of things into consideration and DEFINETLY not listen to hear say. Even apnay cause trouble when they want to, spesh when it comes to marriage. Gossip flys first class! Just be happy with what you get cause tbh some people cant even afford to buy gold for weddings. You need to remember you're entering into a marriage, not just having a wedding. Things like this wont even matter later on.

i guess your mom in law or yr in laws r may b miser..that swhy they dont wana spend much money on big sets and giving u chota sa set..
but tell us is she giving u only one set?
not any other medium 3,4 sets...?
r they really rich that they can afford that much gold?
or r they miser?
or they r thinking about recession?
or they think that this much gold is enough a s they have more duaghters to give godl aswell

so if she brought u 13 tolas weather in one set or two 3 sets ...
she is giving u 3 lakhs 77 k worth of gold...not bad..some girls even dont get this much
i would sugess u dont arue with yr mil about gold...or its worth ..they might think u lalchi ..i ve seen these small things usually bitter the relation...

I think redvelvet gave great advice. And wedding gossip is the juiciest kind so of course the smallest comment, gesture, thought can and will be misconstrued to sound epic. Take this experience with stride, dont let it worry you and use YOUR gut to tell you of someone's intentions, not what you were told by someone else. Bottom line, to your question. No, I would not take worry or insult about any jewelry given. Pay more attention to how she treats you and your family in her words and actions and all will be well. (If she really didnt like you, she wouldnt be letting you marry her son)
I wouldnt care less how many tolas it was.....as long as it was HOT and looked amazing with my walima lengha.
