Nadz I was in a similar situation as you. I got married within my family and I was told a thousand negative things about my jewelery, bridal dress, baree clothes from my own aunts. I was always worrying about how everything would turn out. Once I reached Pakistan, and saw all the things that my MIL got me....I was pleasantly surprised....everything was so beautiful!
I would advice you not to trust anyone even if it's your own family. I was really close to my aunts too and it was a shock to realize that on the inside people arent always happy to see someone else flourish.
One year down the road and I have come to the realization that material things do not matter. It's the relationship between you and your husband that matters the most and not how much gold or how many dresses you got from them. If you two are happy, you wouldn't worry about the world...
