I know some people that have moved away from religion when diasaster has struck, saying Why would God do such a thing as to kill children, school children, families etc etc
others use religion to go through the hard times. Put yourself in a situation where your family has been wiped out, you are digging your children, your little children from the debris, the thoughts going through your mind… think for a minute, would you honestly move closer to religion or away???
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
I would first think silly about God..(honestly)......but then i know....this thing happened to me a lot of times in past... then i would conciously or unconciously move closer to God. ..... you know what...... Always something stragne happens to you that makes you feel ummmmmmmm ummmmm i dont know.... soooo SHAKED..... that you end up crying infront of GOD....
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
i agree barbie...grief is one way of getting closer to God, in a lot of ways
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
its a test from god, and if u have good faith u will even become more stronger! this is the reason why god sends these kind of disasters perhaps to test his people?
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
seems like a bit too much of a test to me
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
Rizwaan i understand what you mean, and ofcourse you think differently,,, but I had to go through a major tragedy inmy life so I know what I am saying.... loosing a loved one usually makes a person stop and have a good look at one's own life and bring outt the good in them....i have seen many people who become very polite and sympathetic towards others after suffering sumthing bad themselves coz its only after you have lost a precious thing in ur life that you realize how much it meant to you, how you should have valued it and how you should have Thanked God for giving it to you. its just that having gone through sumthing bad urself, u understand how other people feel as well... and since it usually brings out the good in a person, it means that they get closer to God.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
There is no specific answer to your question. It all depends on what type of person YOU really ARE…
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
Allah's Messenger (sas) said:
Allah tests you through tribulation in order to refine you, just as you refine gold with fire. Amongst you are those who are left resembling pure gold – such as is a person whom Allaah has saved from evil deeds; amongst you are those who are left resembling gold of lesser quality – such is a person who falls into some degree of doubt; and amongst you are those who are left resembling black gold – such a person is one who gives in to the trial.

Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
I am drifting away from God cos I cant find work. I'd go ballistc and cuss him out.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
Closer, everyones family can benefit from prayers for them after they die and i would want my family to have as good an afterlife as possible.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
If there is no afterlife then these deaths are quite unfair. However, muslims see death differently. If god has called upon his people before their usual allotted time is over then one can't argue with it. It's all a matter of perception. Some people find it delusional but that very state of mind is the beauty of Islam.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
Good and bad is from God. A test of our iman. A test I'd probably not score highly on, but props to those who are more spiritual then me. I do admire them.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
Dont get me wrong ...this is such a tragedy but Allah mia does everything for a reason. Life is just like an exam, as soon as its ended and you can't go back and amend your answers. And this is a test. I think I would move closer to religion though.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
What abt emotions of anger?
i think some of you are being ideallist, and ignoring our very real human sides.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
I think you would have emotions of anger . but i think that would be short term ?
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
^ That's human. Googley, do you have the slightest 'hope' that you will find a job?
That slightest hope is the name of god. 'Keep at it'. You will look back at this time and your belief will only strengthen.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
I dont know. I can imagine intense anger and even hate would develop after such a disaster.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
I am sorta out of hope. I have prayed and looked 4 days a week for 5 months bro.
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
What do you do when you are drowning?
Re: if your family was wiped out would you move closer or away from religion?
to be honest,, first of all the people that died where shaheed cuz they died in ramadan n stuff,,,and i think that since qiyamat is near ,their are worse things that are about to happen in the world and all those muslims that died dont deserve that .... i think it was Gods mercy,,because if they died cuz they were disobedient or something..then they probably wouldnt have died in Ramadan and they probably would have suffered....but most of the people that died did not really suffer because they died instantly....i dont know but i think that makes sense
