If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Yup, the first thing I'll do on Friday is wearing a proper Shalwar kameez to show that "person" that I'm not Iranian if I see her I'm going to tel her that she should inform herself about a country starting with "I" and ending with "ndia" I hate this whole "you're from Iran" stuff, it annoys me because it proves to me how ignorant those people are I mean the Persian girls here in Germany don't observe any hijaab and those who do merely drape a scarf around their head and wear tight-jeans and tight tops and have red lipstick on along with 20pounds of make-up!

I'll definately have a talk about this with my tutor, I know that wearing abaya(well I know it by now) is not neccessarily farz, but still she had no right to make that comment, I mean if I had worn as good as nothing on my body she wouldn't have said a thing about it would she? If I had worn a mini-skirt and a tube top and make-up on my face it would have seemed normal and acceptable.

It's pure injustice.

Yeah I know Germany is the center of attention for many Muslims at the moment because of the way Marwa died, it proves how much racism is manifested within the police force and within the "walls of justice".

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

I had an experience at College.I got discriminated by a professor for no reason at all, that too being the best academic student and being the captain of many arenas of both our college and university.I never had any chance of discussing the matter with her.But years after I almost had a chance to tell her abt my feelings when we all setup an Old students online meet. She gracefully apologized for the mistake.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Yes, Ive been discriminated against in my school system as a child.

They placed me in ESL classes without asking my parents...I knew how to read, write and speak English before starting school thanks to my father spending so much time on me.

When he found out, he was enraged. He went straight to the principal's office and demanded an explanation in the form of some test scores or examinations I had taken to show I needed ESL.

Of course, there werent any. It was an assumption they made...Im desi so I must need ESL.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

@Tayyebeh

I know what u feel. You should stand up and tell your tutor.
Unfortunately my tutor also used to be someone who always did "Islam-bashing".
She was full of prejudices against muslims. Once she said to a turkish girl "Lassen Sie sich nicht von ihrem Vater zwangsverheiraten", just because her dad did not allow her to go with us on a class trip to the UK.
Once we read a novel in class called "Bricklane" which deals about Muslims in UK. Some of my class fellows thought it would be normal for a muslim wife to get beaten by her husband (as described in the novel). We both were really shocked and tried to explain to them that it's not like this. But they only see the negative side as shown in the media.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Oh you're from Germany??
I told my tutor today and he said he would try to find ways to talk to her because she really had crossed her limits, furthermore he explained to me that my new teacher for English major class is likely to have problems with me too, simply for my hijaab I don't get it at all...those western females believe it to be a sign of opression....and for some reason they don't believe us if we say it's not.

PSquared yeah I know that feeling, I had a physics teacher once and I hate physics so I never took part in class and my tests were crappy and one day he came up and asked my class fellow "Does she speak German at all?" I was like WTH, I had actually spoken German to him before and he didn't get it.

I have also been asked why immigrants are so unwilling to speak the language and I just don't know what to say about it as I don't belong to that kind of group. I mean in Germany most immigrants used to be asylants especially those from Pakistan are pre-dominantly asyl seekers...and no one required classes for them to learn German so they stayed here and managed without.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

I don't get it why these teachers are giving you grief, I don't even understand how the hell they became teachers in the first place. Teachers are meant to have a neutral outlook and not bring politics into the classroom. You are following school rules, hijab is allowed, so what's their problem? It seems to be the female teachers who having their knickers in a twist, your male tutor seems fine with it.

If you were so god damn oppressed then why are you in school?! They are oppressing you with their bullplop, they are hindering your quality of education because they keep pestering you.

Tayyebeh, don't argue back or let this effect you. You don't have to keep justifying yourself and defending yourself, your in school to obtain an education and that's it. Keep working hard and live healthily, these women don't want you to succeed like good teachers should. Work hard to the bone and rub it in their ugly faces when you kick ass and become a success - god willing.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Yes

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

Maybe it is their strong feminism that makes them think this way :/ but at the same time they are not earning anything by insulting us. You're totally right by saying that most of my male profs don't have a problem with hijaab AT ALL, it's constantly women who mock us and tell us to please "liberate ourselves from the opressive male culture we were taught to accept"...

I remember some time back at a secondary school in our town girls all of sudden started to observe hijaab, those girls were given FAR WORSE grades than their fellow classmates so the parents threatened to inform the public, the school staff became scared and changed their attitude immediately.

Well to hit students is the most stupid thing. No one is willing to learn if he/she is made fun of, or physically abused, you only crush the spirit of someone by using such methods.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

By the way to add another story, my Pakistani friend wore hijaab at school when she was 10 years old, you know what her teacher did? She called her to the teacher's desk said "You can't hear anything in this" and simply took off her headscarf. My friend was too little to defend herself. However she remained traumatised by that incident and it took her almost 10 years to re-start wearing hijaab out of fear what people might say or do.

Re: If you were discriminated against by a teacher at school?

wow..alot of times us muslims living in Pakistan do not realise how blessed we are to practise Islam in freedom! Alhamdulillahhhh!the religious discrimination our brothers and sisters have to face for basic things like the hijab in foreign non muslim lands is horrible :(

I salute all the brothers and sisters trying to follow sunnah in hostile lands!may Allah azza wa jall keep you strong and protected!ameeen!:)
