The Verse was revealed for people, non Muslims, who claimed to love Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala through other then the Sunnah, Message and Prophethood of RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam
Although the promise of Allah Most High’s Love and Forgiveness is true as is said in the verse, the love will manifest in our Love for RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam
For the Believers The Prophet, SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam, is closer to them then their own selves
