Not that I’m going to lose mine, but my babysitter lost her brand new red AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 phone over the weekend. She was at the Seattle Center, sitting and reading on the grass after a concert. She put her phone on her side…omg, how can you put your phone on your side. You put it on your lap, like your baby…how many times do I have to say that! And poof, it’s gone!
So she was able to track it as she found her ip address via Facebook logins, then figuring out an address using the longitude and latitude provided by the ip address search. She has given all the info to the cops, so hope they can bring her phone back.
Anyway, discuss how you would delete your text messages, for example, and manage your phone, remotely if this were to happen.
I had an app called Plan B on my old phone, but I don't know exactly how I would have implemented it and fortunately, I never needed to. I chose it out of a number a similar apps, though I can't tell you why I chose it over the others. I do need to install something on the new phone, so I am looking forward to other replies here.
As for SMS, I have them all saved automatically via SMS Backup to my gmail acct -- best app in the world -- so I don't keep a lot of conversations on the phone itself.
After reading this, I think i should either delete my txts…or back them up some where…also maybe log out of my gmail account so if I lose it, no one can access my gmail…
I like the idea of backing it up on gmail…should look into it more
There is an app Find my iPhone, you can remotely wipe out data, messages, pictures, etc., depending on what you want deleted. That can be done remotely.
