If you intent to get married, you can request to see a girl without hijab

Can someone shed some religious light on this?

If someone with intention to get married requests to see a girl who wears a hijaab (without a hijaab). I heard this was allowed but to what degree?

In front of parents? Or is there a special meeting arranged just between the two (those getting engaged)

Thanks
