Girls !!! Due to price negotiation, if you were to reduce some embroidery from this lehnga, where would you do it? On the shirt, lehnga or dupatta? Or all over? They will be reducing almost 35K rupees.
For those who have negotiated price and had reduced the work, any tips I should know?
This is the detail of the lehnga:
A shocking pink shaded chiffon lengha with jamawaar lining and a contrast
of sea green along the hem of the lengha, and along the four sides of the
dupatta. The shirt and dupatta are also in chiffon. The embroidery
comprises very intricate kora dabka details mixed with crystals, diamontes
and beads and sequins. The cut of the lengha is a ballgown cut which is a
very modern and stylized cut, with a short 23 inch shirt.
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
cut out the kaam on the back of the lehnga&make the border thinner at the back of it..keep the back of the shirt plain.
for dupatta,my cousin had her dress designed by sonia azhar who made her dupatta slitted from one side till almost half way..it was like Y-shaped and she did the kaam only on one part of the 'Y' which she was supposed to carry on the front plus on the head part.rest had thin border..hope you get what i am trying to say..
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
^^^Yeah.. because the lengha is not so full in kaam like the top. It would look good with the duppatta slightly more plain as the skirt bit is too :) Beautiful lengha by the way.
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
I would have minimal kaam on the kurti- that way, your jewellery will stand out more and your look won't be so overpowering with kaam. Keep the lengha and the dubatta as it is. Or, alternatively, you could have the work on the dubatta reduced a little too. Depends what you want to achieve. x
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
i agree- less work on the shirt so the jewellery stands out more. also perhaps have them use fewer diamantes since i believe they're a bit more pricey. and the dupatta should be light too- it just gets painful if its that full of kaam and so heavy.
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
maria b told me if i wamted my lengha cheaper we would have to reduce the kaam but my good old mum stuck to her guns and refused to do that, low and behold we got it for the price we wanted with full kaam!
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
i liked wat prototype said...does make alot of sense...ultimately no ones going 2 c the back of ur kamiz...but i think cutting out on the kam from the back of lenhga wud give a lehnga very unfinished luk....u kno wen u'll walk on the ramp (if ur planning 4 it) or towards the stage or at the time of rukhsati the kam n lenhga draping out from da bak luks reli elegant..yes u can have kam on those parts of duppata that r 2 be seen n just cut out da rest...i lyk the jaal sort of work on kamiz...the work on kamiz gives dis lehnga a very unique but stylish luk!!! jewellery on dis lehnga iz quite tricky 2 decide isnt it?? diamonds wud lukk awsum on dis dress...aur sumthing antique kundan style in silver u kno those huge jhumkiss...ohh i can go on n on...35 K isnt a small amount!!!
Definitely reduce kaam from the duputta since you want it to be comfortable on that day and any day afterwards when you’ll wear it… the kaam on the lengha looks fine, and i’d also lessen the kaam on the kameez, have it on the sleeves and the border of the shirt, maybe even the neckline..but not all over…
i think it should be reduced on the dupatta. to much kaam makes it look too busy and the person looking at the lengha may get dizzy.
my mate got married and her lengha, shirt and dupatta had exactly the same kaam on it all over and didnt look very nice.
ugh. i dont like that look either- like you're wearing one giant bolt of fabric from head to toe. it only works for indian brides who bare their bellies and break up the pattern somewhat in the middle.
Re: If you had to reduce the embroidery on this lehnga
^ very true..the key is to have a well distributed pattern..you dont want to end up wearing a dress that is 'monotonous'
if you have a heavy top...wear a relatively plain lehnga and a light-medium dupatta....or if you have a heavy lehnga...wear a light top..with a medium-heavy dupatta. :)
