would you work at a successful job (with all the perks and benefits you need, and with a nice working schedule), or would you have your own business?
This was posed to me recently by cousin, who said that the fact that I was doing well in my job was great, but he hoped Id have a business of my own one day, where I could get others to do the job for me.
This got me thinking, and i realized that based on my current situation, I would rather work than own a business. My current job allows me all the flexibility in the world, and pays well, Alhamdulillah. I have this, minus all the logistical headache that goes with running a business. I dont have to worry about trade licenses, employee salaries, legal issues, tax issues, audit issues etc. If I were to have a business of my own, I would be burdened with all these things, which I can surely do without.
I feel that with a job you have much more time in hand to spend with your family. when you have your own business you have to work extra (even on weekends). Life is not only about making money but it's about everything.
Many people establish business for their families and children. It completely depends on your life goals and objectives if you want to leave a well running business for your children.
I don't know why people have this "allergy" to working and are always wanting to establish a business. Does it really kill their ego that they have to work for someone else?
Having a business is not easy at all nor is it very flexible. Many businesses fail in the first year and if it doesn't, the first several yeras are all maintenance. Desis seem to think business = flexibility and unlimited income, which is not always the case.
If someone is ready to do the hard work to maintain and grow a business, then more power to them, but they should realize others are happy working for someone else.
You talk about having your own business like someone is offering you a well-set business :)
Starting a business and run it successfully is not something anyone can do. Getting a job is easy if you have a qualification.
Only few people who start their own business succeed.
I agree. The biggest thing a business requires is finances, since there will be a lot of out of pocket expenses for the first year or so, and it will take at least another year after that to break even. And even that is a big if.
The only major edge a business has is the freedom to decide, and not be answerable to anyone but yourself. Other than that, running a business is not everyone's cup of tea....certainly not mine.
I would like to get into starting a business into my own mainly because I don't want to limit my income . Aside from that I would love to have more time as well with my family.
