Simply put:
Awarding knighthood means giving someone a prefix ‘sir’ (sir arthur conon doyle for example).
Similarly females would have a prefix ‘dame’ (dame elizabeth taylor) etc. although we can use sir for females too.. no worries..

LoL! well yeh if you add a last name of that sort, then it adds up somewhat. btw this last name rhymes with lots of other verbs so gotta be careful to save your knighthood from being tarnished.
