A page from a book: Teacher or Character builder
Ok, got it translated. Please do read it now, it has taken quite some efforts.

“When God wishes to make someone on this earth helpless, He takes away his helplessness from him”. The Teacher started his talk with a realistic and uncommon statement. Including myself, about 40 clever and mischievous boys were sitting quietly as usual. He was the only teacher in our High School about whom, leave alone the students, even his colleagues never voiced any complaint. Whoever mentioned him and whenever he did so, remembered him with words of goodness and praise.
The Teacher continued: “For a poor person to be ashamed of his poverty is as bad as a rich man’s pride in his property. Whoever is not satisfied with his destiny [kismet] is asking for the disapproval of God. Because, in this way, he is rebelling against the adjudication of God. But this does not at all mean that Man should give up the path of hard work and struggle. To be content with what one has is identical with giving thanks to God and to strive for what one does not have is another name for completing God’s wishes”.
“You might ask, where does God’s Will come into this?” said the Teacher, looking at our inquiring faces. “If you study the creation of Man you will observe that Man has been built for work; his hands, feet, physical strength and the limitless mental strengths with which he has been endowed are proof of the fact that Nature intended him and wishes him to labour. Just as the inventor of a machine does not feel genuine happiness and acquire satisfaction until the machine made by him begins to function properly, in the same way God can never be happy with the person who has rendered the body made by Him useless, or who instead of making use of it has left it for others to support.” The Teacher lightly cleared his throat and went on: “As you know, in the matter of wealth and fame people envy each other. But the reality is that powerful minds think only about solutions. In my opinion, the worst type of envy is the wish to change one’s destiny for that of another.”
While the Teacher stopped for a little while a student requested permission to ask a question and said: “Sir, we are human beings, though we realize that envy is bad we still find ourselves involved in it. Please tell us some simple method by which we may save ourselves from this evil.”
The Teacher smiled and then said: “This is an easy question with an even easier answer. If you offer prayers for the goodwill of those whom you envy, your envy will keep on decreasing.” All students were amazed by the response of the Teacher.
“Do you know what the description of a morally solid person is?” asked the Teacher looking at us all. We, who were looking at him with reverence and love, kept silent. Perhaps the major reason for our silence was that we realized that in spite of our efforts we would be unable to hit upon that “logical answer” that would find suitable favour with him.
“Then let me tell you” said the Teacher. “There are two types of strong, upright persons. Firstly, there are the poor persons who do not envy the wealth of the rich, and neither does the ambition to gain wealth keep them agitated. And secondly, those rich persons who are not proud of their wealth, nor do they use it to intimidate others.” The Teacher kept an eye on the students and said: “In my opinion, the poor man who hates the rich and the rich man who hates the poor are both equally guilty, because for both of them the cause of hating each other is just ‘wealth’. Those who are not arrogant about their wealth know that “Al Mutakabbir = Greatest of the Great” is one of the characteristics of Allah, in which any participation by anyone is polytheism [ascribing partners to God], and this is a crime not pardoned by Allah.”
“But, Sir!” I put a question. “Can Man not take pride in his earthly achievements? Would this also come under polytheism?”
The Teacher smiled and replied: “If pride remains within its limits then it is not bad, but if it exceeds its limits then there remains no difference between pride and arrogance. Now look, and deliberate upon my words. Pride means that ‘I too am here’. And arrogance means that ‘only I am here’. When you see an arrogant or haughty person, then realize that he is the victim of ignorance and misapprehension. Stay away from such a person; he wants praise from the world, and wanting praise is an indication of lack of self-confidence. I think that if you pass close to those who consider themselves very great then perhaps they may appear very small indeed.”
We were all attention. We were filling our laps with stores of knowledge and wisdom. Believe it or not, this used to be the only period where the lecturer never ever had to say “Silence please!”
The Teacher went on: “My only fear is that our society, in blindly imitating the West, should not reach a stage where money becomes the criterion for civilization and rank, and poverty becomes only a measure of shame, because the tragedy of the New Age is that to attain ‘respect and position’ it has dealt a heavy blow to basic true philosophy. I do not know to what extent I am correct or incorrect, but it appears to me that, with the passage of time, qualities like humanity, family decency, education and training and moral values are becoming secondary in status and only wealth has remained as the ‘standard of respect’.” He completed his sentence and the bell announcing the end of the period rang.
This took place many, many years ago but the words of the Teacher are still fresh in my mind. I think what a wise and intelligent man that dervish-like teacher was. How correct were his ideas and fears about the times to come. In many affairs of my life I seek guidance from his philosophy even today. And it is my belief that everyone who is willing to hold himself to account can also benefit from the same philosophy.

I disagree with this part of the article. And i am truly amazed at how frequently the saem thing with similar wording is mentioned in Pakistan and is completely false.
There is more respect for education, humanity and values in west than in east.
