Many a weddings in desi culture are arranged and are based on whims. Not a lot of checking and testing and thought goes into the rishta selection process.
So fate might hook you up with an idiot of a person for the rest of your life. Trust me I have seen those kind of couples where wife is very smart and the guy is an idiot or the guy is smart and the wife is stupid.
So what are the choices for that poor husbands or wives ?
I guess they pretend in parties and public like they are not with that idiot. Life at home might be good because idiots might not have the guts to create any problems and would be a keeper.
I am just speculating all this. I do not know what life is like living with an idiot , and no I am not one of those either.O , O , O yes ,I had an idiot as a room mate for a couple of months and I ended up moving to another city to get out of it.
P.S: Those who do not know what an idiot is should see a mirror.
Idiots are in these days, if you dont believe me, just check the revenue earned by 3-Idiots
and on serious note, if at least 1 is smart, he/she should be able to carry on/train the dumb on. What is worst is that both are dumb bus phir tu Allah hi malik hai :)
I guess if you're not interested in the divorce route, you would live mostly separate lives and interact only on a superficial level. Not the life I would want, but some people are satisfied with it.
Not everyone is at the same level intellectually, a person that may seem like an idiot to me might be considered a smart person by another who is at a lower intellectual level than I am... its all relative.
And how smart is that ... to declare someone idiot/stupid outright ... based on what ? do they carry a label fixed on their forehead saying idiot?

that statement itself is pretty self-contradictory. Arranged and yet based on whims, how so? there's lot of checking/vetting goes on in an arraged marriage in desi culture before anything is agreed on as against rushing into a relationship based on personal whims and impulsive thoughts and then realizing the mistakes later on.
