That usually means "we will call you (if we choose to). In my case, I always ask at the end of an interview “so when should I anticipate the call from you” and “would I hear from you in any case”. That always helps. At least they calrify what they meant by “we will call you”.

And again, was that the manager of the department (of the position you applied for) said that or the HR person?

just like the emplyer has many candidates, you have countless employers. you can follow up once, but never beg the question. :)

have faith and focus your energy on good productive places not where your abilities and interest in a work place is mellowed.

and thanks everyone else for the responses too, i suppose everything does happen for the best so yea they did mail me a later after a few months saying they chose someone else but I wasn’t so bummed out since I got another job…not something I’d stick to forever or something I wanted to do but for time being, it works.
