If ur gonna interfere then you do so at ur own risk. If things get worse than they already are then you will be made the scapegoat by all parties involved and its not as if they are thinking rationally in the first place. Offering someonw advice thats something else. I would do that.

tried to stick up for the person once, realized they wanted to live with the bechari, good girl syndrome and didnt even want to stick up for themselves. made me look like a loser.
