If someone famous offered you a chance at a singing career, would you accept it? Meaning they offered to do your album and everything for free, and sign you with a recording contract. Would you do it if it was offered in America? What if it was offered to you in Pakistan? Why or why not? Thanks.
hmm
actually Munni i love to sing but i never sang publically coz it wont go down well with my grandparents :)
but i reckon if that hadnt been a factor i wudve seriously gotten some kinda musical training and gone for it coz i LOVE singing. ofcourse it would have been decent. and i prolly wouldnt do videos. and if i did they would be very very decent. and i wud do it as a side thing, not as a main career. coz no matter what, if u tell someone 'i am a singer' it doesnt give a good impression.
khayr i think theres no harm in it if its done decently as a hobby. if everyone in ur family is ok with it :)
^ What other things are you willing to do provided it goes well with your
family ? Is this a Mashreqee aurat thing ?
As for the orignal question. No I would not.
no :D
I wouldn t :D
I don t think singing would make mutch difference in the world :)
History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.
everything else is up to the big guy, :) what he want will happen
I really enjoy singing and haven't done much publicly other than karaoke. But being offered a singing contract etc? That would totally depend on the conditions. For instance Ashlee Simpson is a perfect example. She has a mediocre voice at best. She doesn't want to do what her sister does, because she can't. she doesn't have a great voice or the ability to hit those notes. So she's a rock voice because it can be rough and gritty and allow leeway for plenty of mistakes. Anyways, she's being marketed on looks (eek), and the fact that she's Jessica's sister. she's not necessarily a song writer herself. She's liked a trained monkey. People want to make money off of her. If I was to become a singer, I would want my agent to totally believe in my talent and not just marketing me to get alot of attention and press coverage.
Personally I think I would be like Curt Cobain in the fact that I would hate to be famous. I would probably start to chant monosyllabic babble into a microphone to a 'hit' song in front of a live audience just like he did. So if I was to become a singer, it would be for the love of the music and not to become just another trained monkey.
If I had the talent and was offered a chance, I would probably do it. I would do it if it were offered in North America but not Pakistan. Not Pakistan because I wouldn't want to stay there for an extended period of time which is probably the case if I recorded it there. If I could be the next Sade or Norah Jones, then I would definitely do it.
What about the fact that in Islam its not looked upon well? There are several hadith to the affect that people shouldnt be singers that sing to the public. Would this affect your decision, for the ones who said they would?
Not to mention, nowadays, in order to market what you are selling, you may have to show some skin. I havent seen a famous pop singer that doesnt cover up these days.
I would..any country anywhere...just hand me a mic and I'll start off right now :D

That's why I said I would want to be like Norah Jones who doesn't market 'herself' but her music instead of her body like Britney Spears and other teen pop tarts.
Realistically, I cannot sing. This is all fantasy talk. :p Sure, in the 'dream world' I would do it in a heartbeat. In real life, probably not. My choice wouldn't have to do with Islam though. It would have to do more with the fact that I wouldn't want to be parted from my family for extended periods of time. Realistically, I don't think I would be very happy.
Maybe if I was more emotionally independent, I would.
I've thought about it several times, but due to the fact that I've always told myself its not something I should do, I wouldnt do it.
Good for you.
As for me, if someone is foolish enough (or deaf enough) to offer me money to sing, then they certainly deserve to lose all that money as well.
