No it’s an example of seeking knowledge as the OP has done. There is not 1 source of evil, but several sources … If Shaitan is locked up … The other ones can still get us.
Regarding literal interpretations … The people of Ahl-us-Sunnah take as literal that what is meant to be so, and otherwise we interpret, that interpretation has to be supported by evidence. The interpretation can be metaphoric/esoteric or quasi-literal.
