So we have seen PPP performing exactly as predicted. Their performance is quite normal by PPP standards and those of us who can think realistically knew what they were going to do.
Now I am trying to figure out what the Government of Sharif brothers is going to be as their party is expected to take the lead in this election.
Looking at their track record, they are not likely to budge from their ‘haqiqi’ Islam enforcement which was basically the mission they carried forward from Zia-Ul-Haq. So this time we should see another attempt like making Quran and Sunnat the supreme law like they did in the last Government.
Then comes Nawaz Sharif’s dream of becoming ‘ameer-ul-momineen’ so he can stay in power forever. He was unsuccessful last time as military kicked him out before he could do it. but he is expected to do something similar this time.
Then comes their vengeance. They brutally victimized their opponents last time and even went as far as torturing Zardari in prison. At one point, the whole media and Government machinery was busy in a propaganda against Benazir and Zardari while his own party was on a looting spree.
This time they have many more enemies to target: Musharraf, PPP, Chaudharys and as NS has said previously that he will hang all those who took part in the military takeover of 1999. So this time we will see a bigger campaign of political victimization if PML-N wins.
Economically, they will keep Pakistan dependent on US Aid and IMF loans. They are not expected to reduce corruption but will only push it under the rug like they did last time and appear as a corruption free politicians which will be exposed after the end of Gov.
Nawaz Sharif is unlikely to run a stable Government. Sharif brothers track record of intolerance towards free media and judiciary is bound to put them in trouble again and lead to instability.
And last thing I can think of: How will their Government end? These are the kind of politicians who take power in the hope of clinging to it forever. How will they leave this time? I can’t imagine Nawaz Sharif saying goodbye after completing his term without doing something stupid to try to stay on.
^ No difference in the Economic policy as well as Foreign Policy. A few bridges, roads (maybe extension of motorways) and metros (Shahbaz Sharif has promised one for Karachi). The Sharifs cannot think beyond these.
During the past 25 odd years two major projects of sharifs are around 400 km motorway and 27 km metro. In the meanwhile sher shah Suri in the 1500s built GT road in five years all the way from Kabul to Calcutta. :@:
I think on economic front, PML(N)'s policies are much more suited for local businesses, compared to PPP which believes dishing out money and government jobs is economic reforms. PPP even had to import a minister of finance since they do not have anyone in their ranks capable of even basic understanding of economics.
One positive thing might be that they would try to keep military in check. Nawaz has been stung hard and he might actually be able to do something about the all powerful Army. In his 'revenge' for the military, he could do something positive for Baluchistan and FATA.
Yes, they like absolute power and make ad hoc mad, stupid decisions. They really really need to have committees for every issue of national importance, composed of stable, bright minds. Otherwise it would all be chaos all over again.
The thing that I detest most in PMLN is their dictatorial attitude. One guy ruling the whole province controlling more than a dozen ministries. Good management techniques involve delegation of powers and better management. These people believe in old bureaucratic setup.
The next Assembly could be hung, and considering the past history of the sharifs I don't see that surviving for a long time. Agreed that the prime minister should make himself heard, but not at the expense of turning into another civilian dictator and destroying institutions (sharif could not work with any COAS, Supreme Court was attacked by his goons, and what ever happened to all his alliances is infront of all to see).
Given Sharif brothers' track record, they will take panga with the military, judiciary, free media or their political opponents somewhere down the line, so I see mid-term election as a very likely scenario
IK need not be too disheartened if he can't win enough seats this time..
If Sharif becomes PM (God forbid) and an assertive COAS follows Kiyani and a proactive CJ takes over the Supreme Court, than expect the next elections to take place somewhere in 2015.

We will have patwaris as govt. school teachers.

Hamza sharif will be Pakistan king of Poultary

No more side walks for pedestrians, everypedestrian will get his/her own overhead bridge.
NA will be shifted from Islamabad to Raiwind Mahal.
Qabza group will become a sseparate portfolio.
Lej and other baned organizatins will take over the secuirty of the country.

PPP buys votes by handing out ATM cards, and dishing out government jobs and plots. Perfect recipe for failure every time.
PML-N buys votes by initiating projects that have a short turnaround time.....laptop scheme, sasti roti scheme, convert light railway to metrobus just so that it can be completed earlier etc etc...Most of these quickfire projects result in huge debts, huge corruption, and long term deficits. Plus, as mentioned above, PML-N has no team whatsoever. Its a one-man-show.

For people like nawaz sharif keeping a check on military means taking control of it and using it for his own gov. last time he tried to keep military in check by putting a butt saab as army chief so no one could stop him from holding on to power.
