Usually in the West, like in Canada, USA, UK, and Australia.

If people ask are you a Muslim? I say yes, I am a "Sunni Muslim."

But no one has right to comment on the Shia sect of Iran and Iraq, I guess.

My father makes me say the obligatory prayers with him, but I always say the Fajrs late.

Mostly I'll just say that I'm Muslim. It's rare that I'll get more specific than that.
