If I were the selector

My team for pakistan would be

  1. Taufiq Umer
  2. Shahid Afridi
  3. Imran Nazir
  4. Faisal
  5. Yousuf Yohana
  6. Younis Khan
  7. Rashid Latif (captain)
  8. Azhar Mahmood
  9. Abdul Razzak
  10. Shoaib Malik
  11. Mohammad Sami

I dont care much about the 12th man. I would like the agressive batsmen to play first 15 overs. Ideally one left hander and one right one. Afridi is likely to fall early so #3 (Imran) is to take up the hitting task. After that I like someone to stabalize the inning. #4 (Faisal) and #5 (Yohana) are supposed to do just that. After that the batting would suit the more opportunists like Younis and Rashid, as we enter into 35 to 45 overs timezone. in the last overs Azhar and Razzak can hit few shots. In case of an early batting collapse, the job would be on 10 shoulders i.e. Shoaib Malik. He is sure capable of producing runs. Who would be my vice captain. answer is Afridi, on experimental basis. I wanna see if responsibilty makes him more responsible. if it does not Yohana or Azhar would be my next choice.
peace out!

My team

  1. Taufiq Umer
  2. Imran Nazir
  3. Imran Farhat
  4. Faisal Iqbal
  5. Yousuf Yohana
  6. Moin Khan
  7. Wasim Akram (captain)
  8. Azhar Mahmood
  9. Shoaib Akhter
  10. Saqlain Mushtaq
  11. Mohammad Sami

my arguments for the bowling line i selected

Sami and Azhar would open the bowling. Sami has the potential of becoming next imran khan. We cannot expect ro get fast bowling Duo like we had with wasim and waqar. so now we r back to the "one great fast bowler in the team" era. Sami is that guy, our present day Imran Khan.

When we in 13th over, bowling would switch to Afridi and Razzak, with Shoaib Malik to take over, if one of them is not able to contain the runs flow. in the last 10 overs, it would be Sami and Azhar again

so you see i do have 5 bowlers

  1. Shahid Afridi
  2. Azhar Mahmood
  3. Abdul Razzak
  4. Shoaib Malik
  5. Mohammad Sami

Offcourse others can bowl occasionally if the need arises.

Robert, your team is extremely weak on bowling. Azhar is past it. Razzaq is a pale shadow of himself. Afridi has never been good enough to bowl 10 overs. Malik has improved as a batsman at the expense of his bowling. Sami is the next big thing but he is yet to prove himself on a consistent basis.

My team:

Taufeeq Umer
Imran Farhat
Hasan Raza (v. capt)
Yousaf Youhana (capt)
Naveed Latif
Rana Naveed
Kamran Akmal/Humayun Farhat
Sami
Saqlain Mushtaq
Umer Gul
Abdul Rauf

sara ganda khoon nikal gaya. If there is no politics and bickering, this team can do well.

Roberts why dont you apply to become a selector. After all you think like them. You want to choose Afridi knowing he will fall early. That is exactly how our selectors think.

my team would be

Saeed Anwar
Taufeeq Umar
Shahid Afridi
Inzamam
Misbah ul Haq
Youhana
Rashid Latif
Abdul Razzaq
Wasim Akram
Muhammed Sami
Shoaib Malek
Waqar Younis
Faisal Iqbal
Imran Nazir
Muhammed Wasim
Imran Farhat
and many other talented players which are forgotten by PCB!

My team would be.

Taufeeq Umar
Imran Nazir
Yousuf Youhana
Inzimam ul Haq
Faisal Iqbal
Shahid Afridi
Kamran Akmal
Abdul Razzaq
Shoaib Akhtar
Saqlain Mushtaq
Muhammad Sami

If the veterans decide that their time is up and give the youngsters chances to build for the future team, than I think these are ideally correct.
Both Taufeeq Umar and Imran Nazir are technically correct batsman, and right-left combo is always difficult for the opposition.
Yousuf Youhana definatly has to be there, he is 1/4 of the Pakistani batting but he definately has to step up to the plate when it matters the most.
Inzimam is down but he is not out, he can still play his best. Faisal Iqbal is the type of player who can keep the run rate flowing, and also score runs at faster rate when needed.
Afridi is only there because as a fielder, I don't expect anything from him as a batsman, sometimes handy as a 6th bowler.
