Iblis disobeyed and he won’t even get punished in hell because he’s made of fire. Can I get an answer to this little conundrum?
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
Maybe it was part of Allah's plan for iblis to disobey.
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
Jinn and humans both were given free will, he disobeyed with his own free will. He will be punished as promised in Quran at many places. Now as he being made of fire , he was made of fire but all his properties have changed like humans are made of clay but they do not look anything like clay anymore.

Of course he will be punished. He just has some time before he does.

Dear guyfawkes, please read my other posts and explain what do you mean by iblis, jinn or satan? If you could explain what you make of these terms then we can reach the proper meanings of these terms by way of process of elimination. The quranic terms and concepts need to be understood properly in context of real world realities not in isolation.
Iblis was a jinn 2/30-, 18/50- etc because he was of rebellious nature and he behaved arrogantly and turned kaafir. The question is, what is meant by word jinn? What are powers or capabilities of jinns? Can they be another kind of creatures or the quran is describing a group of people from amongst the humans?
What is meant by staff of Moses? Was jesus born like everyone else or was he without a human father? Did he die on the cross and was resurrected and raised to heavens or did he die a natural death like everyone else?
All such like questions can be answered once we realise things explained in my other posts. Mullahs have been spreading lies against the quran in the name of islam. This is why we have ended up so divided and because they have been spreading ignorance and stupidity. The result is very obvious that we are a least educated people. We rely far too much on make beliefs rather than facts and their explanations that make sense. We have accepted falsehood as truth without any proof whatsoever. This is why we have questions that cannot be answered unless we look at things in their proper contexts.
It is time we learned to look at islam in its proper context as a full picture rather than bits and pieces in isolation accepting numberless contradictions within the quran and between the quran and the real world when the quran tells us that if there were such contradiction in the quran then could not be word of Allah 4/82 etc.
So if we really want answers then we need to approach things differently than we have been indoctrinated with. The relationship between the quran and universe is like an instruction manual and the washing machine. We must have both to complement each other so that we could make use of them properly. Mullahs have no idea what science is and scientists have no idea what is in the quran so we have two isolated concepts that cannot answer any real question on their own. It is for this reason we must not listen to mullahs regarding the quran nor listen to scientists regarding the universe instead we need to bring them together and see what we get by doing that.
So what is your understanding of concept of jinns and why do you have that concept? Is there any way to prove or disprove your concept of jinns? If there is then at least we can come to know what jinns cannot be be even if we do not know what they may be.
Time to put mullahs and their myths on the spot. The important point is not power of God but purpose of God and his plan as regard creation. We need to move away from the idea that Allah created world to test people and to reward them if they did good and punish them if they did bad.
This idea is untrue because in that case we ought to be created knowing right and wrong which we do not 16/78. Allah is not a monster but a kind and compassionate being as per many verses in the quran. He has taken upon himself to be kind to people. This means there is some other reason for creating the universe not testing people to find out what they are going to do.
The only reason that makes sense is that Allah just decided to create things because he wanted to create things just like parents decide to have kids. After birth it is better for kids to get on with life than start fighting with parents as to why they have had them. Likewise we are here and it is better we make sense of life the best we can and get on with it. There is no point in arguing over things senselessly.
The best we have is divine message and the universe itself right before our eyes. Our best guess is to see if these two things make any sense that helps us unlock the mystery of our origin and purpose and to see what is the best way forward for us to live a progressive and prosperous lives that are peaceful and reasonably satisfactory. This is why we cannot afford to be stupid people ourselves nor can we afford to follow stupid people as our leaders regardless for political, social, cultural or economic reasons.
regards and all the best.
Re: If God’s power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
Not true. Quran says Allah will fill hell with disobeyers and Iblis. No where in Quran does it say HOW Iblis will be punished. Everything else about hell fire being strong enough to hurt Iblis sahab and all is just hearsay. I just don’t like God. ![]()
Re: If God’s power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
And what do you think is proof and proving about if not just hearsay, dear theorist?
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
Maybe it was part of Allah's plan for iblis to disobey.
In the Quran Allah SWT tells of his plan to put mankind on Earth before the creation of Adam and Eve, and so I am sure he also planned for Iblis's disobedience.
To the OP, I think he (like us) was allowed to disobey. Perhaps his punishment is different.

But dear Sahar, why would Allah need to plan anything for anyone else when they are supposed to be creatures with capability of choice of their own?
Re: If God’s power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
You are refuting your own assertion.
I also said that Quran says at many places that he will be punished .
To me the punishment of humans is hell fire and Iblis will be there too so he will be equally punished. How will hell fire be his punishment only Allah knows.
I did not say hell fire will be strong enough to punish him. I said Iblis was created from fire , but his properties are different as humans were created from clay but they do not look anything like clay, Do they ?
Allah hu kullay shayun Qadeer. Allah is capable of doing anything.
As for your not liking God. That is your free will.
Allah hu samad. Allah does not care.

Exactly! We don't know. Your guess is as good as mine.

but we are not made from clay.. you COULD say we come from star dust, which is not only clay, it's also fire and a million other elements. This would also mean Iblis couldn't be any different from us or really different from us. This MEANS nothing.

Yet Allah will let Iblis run wild and blame mankind for giving into his temptations. How lame.
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
Humans are made out of clay and mud so if taking OP's question how would hellfire hurt iblis when he too is made of fire..a ball of dried clay and mud shouldnt hurt if hurled at someone's face and so shouldnt a slap of another person.
Allah planned and knew iblis would disobey otherwise without a test what would have been the point of creating this world and humans as well as the life hereafter.
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
theo......is there no other way to express your opinion without crossing the lines that this forum stipulates?
Re: If God's power is absolute, why did Iblis disobey?
and to the point......along with free will we have been a mind and the ability to educate oneself about right and wrong........
if we do not give in to the temptations then we will not be punished.
going to hell is not a foregone conclusion.....
