If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

What would be the result of Completely Fair Elections if at all possible.

1- Who will get the most votes?

A- One of the Religious Parties

B- One of the Non-religious Parties

2- The area wise distribution would be what?

C- Urban versus Rural

D- One province to other.

3- What will be the reaction of the army? or should it matter?

4- What will be the reaction of International community? or should it matter?

Please choose at least one question to answer if you like to discuss.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

1 B - Non-religious Parties

2 C - Its mostly urban v/s rural (if this question is also about religious/non-religious parties). And I think Religious parties are going to get more votes in URBAN areas rather than rural.

3 - Thinking of a "Completely Fair" election means army was not involved at all, and the results don't matter to them

4 - I don't know. but i think it will be more easy for them to "buy" their partners because nobody will be in good enough majority to form national govt. plus all of our large and experienced political parties are equally sold out, it doesn't matter who wins as long as we have this western form of Democracy, which more of DemoCrazy than democracy

**What would be the result of Completely Fair Elections if at all possible.

1- Who will get the most votes?**

B- One of the Non-religious Parties ( Religious parties will NEVER get more votes)

2- The area wise distribution would be what?

C- Urban versus Rural - Religious parties will probably get slightly more votes in rural areas.

D- One province to other - Religious parties will get more votes in KPK (may even dominate) but no domination in any other province.

3- What will be the reaction of the army? or should it matter?
Army wouldn't need to overreact because religious parties won't dominate.

4- What will be the reaction of International community? or should it matter?
International community will be concerned and YES it should matter because religious parties do work under the influence of Saudi Arabia (non religious parties also work under American/Saudi Arab influence).

By the way you forgot to ask the most important question, who is likely to surprise everyone in this election????

IK is the answer :-)

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Nothing would change under fair elections.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

^ So, practically speaking, elections in Pakistan have been completely fair all along?

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Elections have never been fair in Pakistan. Instead Parties have cashed on peoples sentiments and emotions.
Questions is, what do we call Fair or Tempered elections?

Most of the voters are affiliated with some 'Personality Agenda' or 'Regional Divide' Its not new but ancestral culture.

As long as the Part Elections never being ever, and in absence of any 'Constitutional Regulation' forcing participating party to hold Part Elections, IMO are time wasted and to no avail.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Fair Elections can have impact only on MQM if there is no terror.
Some persons working as tool of Establishment will loose also.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

MQM will be routed, PTI will stand a better chance and PPP/PML leadership may finally start being democratically nominated as opposed to being inherited.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Hmmm! ^ I like more details on your thoughts sTalKer ,,, above sounds like a Parrot Readings !

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

I believe MQM will still win, they will lose few seats for sure, but the majority of "urdu speaking folk" in karachi is genuinely with them (though its sad because its based on ethnicity and not ideology)

but saying that this will impact only MQM or they will be routed, is not true

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

The PPP and PML-N are the most popular parties in the country by a long shot. Fair elections would always lead to one or the other of them taking power.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Debatable claim (majority is with them) and even if the absolute majority of that group favors MQM you have to look at the demographics of Karachi: <50% are the "Urdu speaking folk", therefore it absolutely does not add up that MQM wins assuming everyone is voting on ethnic lines (like they usually do). Ballot stuffing and rigging is the way they get away with the seats from Karachi.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

What do you mean when you say "fair"?

Does that only mean that there will be no "jali votes" (fake ballots/rigging) or does that also mean there will be no fear in the people, fear of bhattakhoors, chaudhris, waidairays, khans, sardars etc? Does fair election also mean that candidate's expenses remains within the limits/laws and they dont end up spending 10s of millions of Rs?

It it only mean no jali votes, there will not be a sea of change. Things on the whole will remain same give or take 30/40 seats.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

Exactly. Previous elections in the 90's I think confirm this. As far as I know, (and I wasn't really paying attention, to be sure), those elections were quite fair and without controversy.

Re: If elections In Pakistan Ever Become Completely Fair

By 'fair', I meant all of above.

Freedom to elect anyone without fear or whatever and correct counting of the votes.

What that means the actual public "opinion and desire" translated in to forming a government.
