if a visa expires...can you

go back to your copuntry and come back within 3 months , if getting a visa again ie student, and will that continue towards a 10 year requirement to be able to get a british nationality.

obviously i am asking on behalf of someone else.

she was on a student visa, now on work, but permit is expring, and one lawyer told her that if she goes but comes back within 3 months it will count as part of her immigration and wont affect hher previous 4 years of being here. so she wont have to start again so to speak.

last i heard was that student visas dont count towards immigration anyway, she came in 2010, was the law different then? will 2010 immgiration law apply to her or the current.

and once visa expires, is that it? she cant come back within 3 months and continue…or can she.

Re: if a visa expires...can you

I heard the same , that , student visa's dont count towards the 10 year rule anymore. It was too convenient for people to take that route. Remain a student for 10 years and gain easy route into citizenship. That door has been closed now.

Re: if a visa expires...can you

was that the case in 2010 too....

so if her visa has expired and she goes back, she cannot come back within 3 months and her previous 4 years will still count..she was 2 years student and 2 years work permit...

Re: if a visa expires...can you

what visa is she on now?
this was not the case back in 2010. rules got changed two years ago i think.
If she is coming back on work permit or asylum or any other legal status then yes it her previous work permit years will be counted. Dont know about the student visa though

But if she is back on student visa , then no, she will not be accepted in the 1o year category

Re: if a visa expires...can you

She's on work permit. And most likely wants to come back as student. How can she come back on.work permit?

Re: if a visa expires...can you

if she comes back on student permit, there is minimalist chance of her getting the passport here.

To come back on a work permit, she will have to apply for jobs and get a job offer. The company can then apply for her visa on her behalf. Its a long and a lengthy procedure and a challenging one too. But if she is able to secure such an opportunity she can get the passport easily within 5 years
