… and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
WTH. Unless asking philosophical questions means being scientifically challenged, i dont see how this question was ever taken seriously.
Discuss all you want but if I am not around to read it, would you make any sense?

we would make sense to others who read it…and would make sense to ourselves
if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it…by no one you mean not even the birds and insects:aq:

Re: if a tree falls in a forest ...
but the sound waves still travel even if no one is there to hear.
Re: if a tree falls in a forest ...
The sound waves/vibrations are still created.
It's simple laws of physics; they don't cease to exist because of the lack of human presence.
Re: if a tree falls in a forest ...
Was going to say the same thing.
Of course it would create sound and not only that but so what if human beings are not there. Forest is full of wild life, and plants. If we think of it in the Islamic sense then even the plants would hear it. Scientifically speaking, all the animals would. Oh and the animals would react too. Just not sit there and hear the noise caused by a tree falling in a forest.

There are phenomenon of physics that only happen when you make an observation or they stay in hybrid stage. Tree falling and making sound may not be one of them but that does not mean that observation cannot create the act itself.

will the destruction be there unless someone decide to visit the forest to observe?

Re: if a tree falls in a forest ...
ok...Yes, it does make a sound weather you are there or not.
This philosophy is still vague if you think about it..
Because it works only if you are there to hear it or not.
depends on where you stand.
and if you are there at all..
