I drew this yesterday afternoon and I’m pretty happy with it. The only thing that is really bothering me is the hands/fingers, and I’m debating over whether I should go back and try to fix them (with the risk of screwing it up even more). The shield could be a bit bigger. The sword should be longer.
Should I color it?
I think I’m just going to fix it up a little and then just go over the lines in a fine black pen or something.
formula for the shield's size is that it covers from waist-band to nose of the warrior. during hand2hand combats, its vital that u cover urself for the attack, but wanna keep the eyes open, but face should be covered from shield ENOUGH that it a strike comes, u can just block, and then attack..
and swords vary.. scottish (fictional) warriors carried shoulder-length swords (length wise), compared to few swords of hazrat ali that are believed to be 40 "kilos" in weight..
hands r a bit small arent they?....and u kno wat u shud do with re: to colouring it in....use a much watered down brown water colour paint....just very lightly shade in the colours....almost like the colour of tea when it's spilt on paper....and then go over with black fine pen!... (I did Art- know wat im talkin about)
faizy - oh well I don't know much about the weapons and stuff but yea the shield does seem like it should be a taller. And I think I'm going to extend the sword. What is this type of sword called? (the kind with a wider end?)
kazi - I'm really messy with paint so I think I'l probably just use colored pencils.
what u’re showing is a ‘machette’ .. its like a bigger dagger cambodians/far east asians used while travelling (so they used to chop the bushes/small trees in ways)
what u want is a type called cutlass, used in old combats and pirate-days..
also, another alternative would be to use a longsword type, used by ‘knight’ type warriors in english/medieval fashions
