There is an intelligent , meaningful debate going on in some forum. Very strong arguments are presented from both sides. Now the person who is losing the arguments calls the other person an idiot , retard or just plain fool out of the blue.
Come on man give me a break. What is your definition of an idiot , a retard or fool, someone who can outwit you ? Then you are the retard of the century.
If someone is intelligent enough to be computer literate , and Internet savvy , would have an IQ level higher than an idiot, retard, or fool.

per the scenario you discussed, it sound like the one you cannot convince is a retard. You cant convince him, hence start loosing the argument and start calling him an idiot.
If you look at it, there might be some justification in calling the other party an idiot, innit? :p
Every one has a different meaning of idiocy, it starts from the line where this so called idiocy ends for that individual! Idiocy has no physical existence, it can just happen and every human can become an idiot depending on the mood and 'zehni kafiyat' ... but it does not last for long, if you treat an idiot nicely, he will surely come to you and will agree to you for the past argument...
Some people actually have no counter-argument and to end the discussion they label the other party as an "idiot, fool, daft" ect.. in real they've already been made into one :) it's also to throw the other person off so they retaliate and the real argument goes to the backseat! And this is how they save face sigh
