Free Media in Pakistan has only existed for a few years. The journalists they have hired are not professional enough.
They believe they should be against everything the government does as an irritant.
They do not believe in rational thought or what is best for Pakistan but sensationalizing everything.
It will take 10 years or so before the Pakistani Media finally comes to their senses.

yes, at times the coverage is unprofessional, yes at times it is inaccurate, yes at times, it is nauseating...
but too much coverage is better than no coverage like the PTV of 90s and earlier... too much debate is better than no debate...

However Pakistani media in general and the news papers in particular have had pretty much free hand for a long long time with few bumps in the road here and there.
The problem with Pak media is that it is 99.99999% leftist/socialist or Islamist or all of the above.
Thus it will mostly remain anti-West and anti-American especially.
The same leftist media will also continue to hinder the industrial and entrepreneurial, free market progress for a long time to come.
The current Kerry-Lugar Bill debate is clearly a manifestation of deeply entrenched anti-Americanism in Pak media.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has directed police to lodge an FIR and arrest Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain, for the murder of a security guard
A three-member bench consisting of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ghulam Rabbani issued the orders while conducting suo moto action on reports of the murder of security guard Fiaz Ahmed, who was killed nearly a year ago.
The Sihala police station house officer told the bench that seven people had been arrested for the guard’s murder, but all had been released on bail. However, some people present at the hearing told the court that Malik Riaz coerced them into selling him their land, alleging that those that refused would be harassed with help from local police. The court was also informed that Malik Tabarik Hussain, who was also accused of Fiaz’s murder, was handed over to Sohrab Goth police in Karachi. The court also ordered the Islamabad district and sessions judge to submit a detailed report by November 26, and directed the Sindh inspector general to present Tabarik Hussain in court today (Tuesday).
Staff Report adds: The court directed a Sihala police official to record the statement of Shamraiza Bibi, Fiaz’s widow, in the courtroom and lodge an FIR against Malik Riaz for the murder of her husband. In her statement, she said that Malik Riaz was responsible for the murder of her husband. During the course of hearing, two citizens - Raja Qayyum and Habibullah - appeared before the bench and maintained that they were victimised by Malik Riaz, who had them beaten up by police because they would not sell Riaz their properties. They alleged that SHO Idrees Rathore and DSP Malik Mumtaz had kept them locked up for three months, forcing them to sell their properties to the Bahria Town chairman.

I think Pakistani media needs about 25 years to mature not less then that.

Mr. Pasha, anchors don't generally speak about personalities, they do, however, speak about policies and practices. One who is at the helm of affairs is normally one who is focused most. I have rarely seen , with some exceptions, anchors castigating Mr. zardari, or for that matter any other personality. Our Bias is what makes us too sensitive about what we don't want to hear otherwise.
