Inspired by a post in another thread, do you think that the use of the word “smart” and “personality” by people of Pakistani origin is incorrect? Or is it just a different way to use these words, developed in a specific region.
Both “smart” and “personality” refer generally to aspects of a person’s character, something internal and often abstract. But the Pakistani use tends to refer to something more physical. “Smart” is usually associated with slim and fit individuals. When referring to a person’s “personality”, Pakistanis are often discussing the person’s outward appearance/looks.
Can you think of other words that have the same issue?
