Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Has anyone dealt with such situations before?

Say a certain person you know online is using any information you might have online as their own

Name, date of birth, friends, relations etc.

Will it bother you a little bit to find out that its happpening esp after people around you are noticing it happening?

Will it bother you to know that, that theif has done it to others before theyve made you the target?

Is there a way to protect yourself from such people.

I remember someone posting something from facebook where the person had the other persons full details.

Is this like some sort of a sick mental condition?

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

That's why I never post my pics online, I ONCE had a profile on a 'certain' website, and ever since then I had my pics on myspace, xanga, and a few others. It was creepy, they were pretending to be me, and the only way I found out was through a friend who saw "me" on it and added me, adn the imposter started sending him dirty messages, it's sick... I got most of them banned but I wonder how many are still out there...

People are SICK! They accumulate pictures of people they see online and do disgusting things with them. One of my friends had her pic on a guy's list of "Girls I f*****" ... wonder how these people have all that time on their hands...

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Man that's scary. To stop this, I'd say try to limit the number of people accessing your journals or private web pages.....

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

yup, and posting pics on random sites is a biggggg no-no, you have it up for even 5 minutes and God knows how many people save it.

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

i have to deal with it…a gal is doing it with my picture:D, she is either in love with me (lesbian gal) or just a sickos jealous of my life ( she was after my ex boyfriend once a while ago)…
but i say be smarter, someone wanna take your id, ok, then change yourself so fast the other dumb can not keep pace up with you!:halo:

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Only sick and twisted people would do such things but there are some people in this world who have the same name and birthdatre by coincidence!

My best friends name is A and her date of birth is Feb. 18th and my sil has teh same name and Allah knows the same birthdate. It is scary but it is the truth.

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

but i guess they do not look like twins? aren't they?

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

ofcourse not Paris:)

What i am trying to say is not necesssarily people are trying to stalk you if they genuinely share the same name and birthdate.

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

unfortunately this genuine coincidence is rare, especially in the case when people steal online photos, email adresses from friends, etc…

you know i was being quite naive at first online, but now i’m more carefull cause genuine persons are not everyone out there!
i protect my privacy: i avoid giving my real firstname in public forums and other personal details, i have different email and chatting adresses…to try to “loose” people from tracking me too much

but weirdos are not lakcing imgination!:bummer:

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Yeah you're right about that. When people get ahold of your pics, you're really put into a bad situation, cuz people try to make you appear to be some sort of wh***, advertise these pictures on dating sites, and even photoshop them to put these people into compromising situations. Imagine a family friend sees your pic on a website with the caption "looking for a one-night stand, male or female no ... i dont discriminate"-- yes, I'm talking from personal experience. It sucks! :(

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

that was freaky, when i saw it i was like what the heck, and that person is twisted.

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers

Twisted logon ki twisted batain :cb:

Re: Identity theft/Online Stalkers
