Identity of a woman in sub-continent

‘Paaro / Pappoo ki Maa’ is the term how a lady is referred after having children in desi society.

While we also hear ‘papoo ka baap’ but its rare as compared to ’ guddoo ka beta’. I mean a person is recognised with the name of his father than father is recognised with reference to son.

Why is this distinction followed in sub-continent and ‘Maa ka beta’ is considered a sort of gaali in sub-continent’s culture?

Re: Identity of a woman in sub-continent

This is internal 'Munne ka abba'. Outside home, how often you hear a person is referred like this 'falan ke abba', though we hear a lot 'falan sahib ka beta'

Re: Identity of a woman in sub-continent

Arabs are not different to the extent of woman identity. Actually, they name their daughter as Umm e Maryam, Umm e Farwa. But there is no distinction for male names as well Abu Abdullah, Abdu Daud are names given to sons on their birth.
