ideas for Eid....help wanted!

Re: ideas for Eid....help wanted!

And you know, I find it laughable that I'm seen as such a prude when I work in the fashion industry. And I don't give a damn what a person wears, as long as they're not misrepresenting themselves. And at least I don't work with designers and models who walk out on the runway half naked and say ALLAHU AKBAR at the same time.

Fashion is one thing, being a dirty hypocrite is another.

--

MatineeSiren.....seems like you took it very personally! but the thing is if you say dress according to Islamic values then yes....anything other than proper hijab is against the teachings or lets say preferences laid out in Islam....

I was asking about ideas...which one is more liked by guppans ova here...., did I ask opinion on how to celebrate.....If I did...I am sorry for doing so and tender my apology for that part!

I got your point, but if one really mean to follow Islam in true letter and spirit and do not twist its interpretations according to one's own needs to justify their way of dressing then yes....buqa..or abaya is what one should wear in public...so as we will be going out to different people's homes therefore burqa was the right choice...wasnt it?

So I do not understand why you got flared up so much!

Islam says we have to do purdah from all Na mehram, irrespective of the occassion...so what is the point of discussing any further.

Thank you for your decision on who should and should call themselves Muslims, and if I go by your statements, whosoever is not complying to the dress code laid down in Islam is non believer......

Even a bare single strand of hair is against the dress code laid down in Islam......I know that...and I think you know that too, so relative acceptance (and this could be huge debatable issue as well....as something bold to me might not be bold to you) of modern clothing is not in sync with what our religion teaches....

I hope that we can discuss the religious and personal perspectives in other forums like Religion & Scripture then Fashion & Beauty.......then it would be better.....

I am not going to comment any further as to what is acceptable for Eid or not, but would like other members to give their opinions on which one is "better"....and not necessarily "right" according to their opinion!

All I did was ask that people remember that this is an Islamic holiday, and to not get caught up in their own personal desires. And yet, I felt I was attacked.

I'm not going to argue this further here (because I do highly disagree with you on several points). If this were specifically about fashion (going to party, etc), I'd have no issue with the thread. But as it's Islamically related, I felt I had to speak up.

Look up a little about hypocrisy, and see how it's compared to being a kufr.
And how much worse it is than being a kufr.

Thus, I end my case.

Sleeveless doesn't make anyone dirty hypocrite... the designs that being posted here, doesn't really means that people might be wearing them the same. Mostly the designs posted here are for idea, rest everyone make changes in them to their taste. So stop bashing!

Re: ideas for Eid....help wanted!

matineesiren, i really don't think its necessary to get so worked up about someone else's personal dress choices. if someone wears sleeveless tops, it doesn't automatically make them a non-muslim, and frankly, thats a pretty offensive thing to say. everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to their own perspective on celebrating Eid and what to wear while celebrating, and after all, isn't Islam all about* your own *relationship with God, and not judging other people's choices?
there are many varied and worse sins that are truly heinous and that would qualify someone to be a non-muslim, but sleeveless ain't one of them.

Re: ideas for Eid....help wanted!

wow - sometimes I dont get why a simple question asked by someone on a forum becomes a religious issue! matineesiren before pointing out at the way someone else dresses or prefers to dress let me ask u this much - are u 100% covered when u walk outside of ur house and by that I mean hijaab, full sleeves on ur shalwar kameez or even an abaaya. I dont know u, but the poor girl just asked for an opinion, not a debate on what EID means and how she shud dress "islamically"

I'm not bashing. I felt I was attacked and thus responded.

-- and I did say the designs were pretty.

I said hypocrisy was unislamic, and there are sources that state that being a hypocrite is worse than a kufr. When you wear something that is obviously unislamic, it makes you a hypocrite.

I don't care if someone is a Muslim or not. What I value is integrity. If you're going to follow a religion, you might as well do it right.

(P.S. I didn't judge. Islam states that we have to make our brothers and sisters aware of haraam actions that they may be taking. Don't attack me because I did my duty)

(((Also lets remember that although its true that Islamically you should not wear such clothes in front of non-mahrems, you can still wear them at home, with family, girlfriends etc so its not like the clothes are haram in themselves)))

Salz I wanted to ask you, where are you getting the clothes made, are you ordering them from the website where you found the pictures or sending the picture to get it made in Pakistan yourself? I'd love to see the finished product as well, and then if I like what I see I'd like to get the contact info for where you got it made from as well :CareBear: Thanks!

I really like the second one --love that color combo! Its really classy, but I dont like the slit up the middle. I also like the maroon one, but I'd keep the kaam on the capri going all the way up or else just at the bottom, I dont like how you can see where it is ending halfway up

Mystical. Read my very first response.

"They're pretty.. but just a suggestion-- perhaps you should go with something a little more modest for EID? I'm no stickler for dress.. but it's an Islamic holiday and I think we all need to reflect that first and foremost."

I was completely nice and helpful. I didn't turn it into a religious debate, I merely SUGGESTED that as the dress being chose is for an Islamic celebration, it should follow Islamic mandate. While I felt I was being helpful and doing what Islam prescribes us to do (to correct our brothers and sisters when they are making a mistake), I was attacked, and everyone became defensive. This isn't about the poster (I made NO personal attack on her, as per my FIRST post). And this isn't about me. I tried to be helpful, and everyone took a giant dump on me.

I don't think that's quite fair or correct.

^ Also can someone please help me figure out if I want to get capris like that made, how can I send my measurements to Pakistan for the darzi to make it? Like I mean, at which parts of the leg do they need the measurements for so that it has a proper fit? Thanks!

not bad not bad…i am sure they also have it in maroon as well

You've gotta add tons of sequence and embroidery.

Hawt.

^LOL!

Re: ideas for Eid....help wanted!

alrite ladies kiss and makeup, I dont want the discussion to go where its going.

The dresses that were posted were ideas, you can add or remove to ones liking.
Whatever one wears is their decision in the end and in no should in no way effect your beliefs.

Your beliefs are reflected in the way you act, speak, and dress. They are never separate. You can't detach from your morals.

That being said, I was attacked when I was entirely pleasant. People are just too defensive. They'll just continue to project their issues onto me until they own up and grow up.
