i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

the thing i noticed while watching MTV awards yesterday that in every acceptance speech the winners thanked God, their mothers, fans and their manager etc but none of them ever thanked their fathers. i rarely see any artist thanking fathers in their speeches no matter which award show it is. why is this so? are fathers not as important for celebraties (sp?) as their mothers in hollywood?
becharay abba jis ka kya qusoor hota hai?

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

I will get up on the stage and kick his butt if he ever forgot to mention my name!

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

^ and I will do this infront of his mama!!

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Most of them don't know who the father is...:)

Not trying to be mean but, I guess that's the whole story in most of the cases.

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Maybe they dont have dads or male figures?

I read the journal entry...being kallay, most of those mens r pussies n wont support the women htey get pregnant so tats why there are a lot of single black moms...

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

^^^ they do...they Pay!

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

nah nah.. of course dads r important! At least the ones who stick around anyway...

Theres a serious lack of responsibility in this society. Here, personal happiness takes importance over duty and responsibility sometimes, so some dads (and moms) are ready to leave their families to fulfill their own personal dreams. Also, kids r having sex at a younger age. They don't understand the responsibilities behind it, or the science of getting prengant. Not many knocked up sixteen yr old girls will get prengant, the guy wil abandon them n say it's not even his..

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

well isnt that what sex education is for in these countries? to tell these young ones to be more responsible and educate them with all kinds of consequences. and they have DNA tests to prove who the father really is now.

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

suroor sex ed is being phased out over here coz of bush and the christian right wing’s “abstinence only” stance on education… meaning by law schools r not allowed to teach about STDS and birth control , only that they mustnot have sex before marriage.

Like i said, theres a big lack of responsibility nowadays… divorce rate is high, ppl will live together and have children with numerous men and women, and won’t marry the person they’reliving with and have a child with because “marriage is a big commitment”

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

:hehe:

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

hahahaha

that actually makes a lot of sense:D

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Because most of them probably did not see their fathers after the age of 2 days. It is a sad and unfortunate truth of African American society or lower middle class American society (like white trailer trash excuse the lingo). We've all heard of the joke where the mother names all of her boys "James" and someone asks her how do you differentiate between them and she says by their last name. Most of these people don't know their father beyond a paycheck.

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

Western men are good parents too. (I live in Australia and I've heard 'Parents' being mentioned)

Perhaps fathers help is taken for granted, in the USA. ?

Re: i'd like to thank my mother but not my father?

it's like having to share your daddy with kids of three other women who are wives of some mullah dude. no difference...kids lose out.

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

Look. There they go again hastily assuming bad things about America.

:disgust:

I love my daddy.

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

thats is sad.

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

That’s true like Usher for example i think he dont know who his dad is.

Re: i’d like to thank my mother but not my father?

Although I agree with what Lydia is saying here, I think thanking Mom is not a snub to Dad.

It’s just natural that mothers play a larger role in bringing up kids. They are around more while Dad is out working to put a roof over their heads and food on the table. Visibility counts.
