Ice cream at home ..

The only freaking thing i can make is Rooafza lolly … like make rooafza in a cup , and put it in the freezer and then keep stirring it so it turns into slush rather then thick slab of ice !

Any nice recipes that arent too complicated and wont involve the use of the icecream machine ? :@:

Re: Ice cream at home ..

Got loads of recipes for icecream, but they do involve using an ice cream machine.

I did have a semi freddo recipe that was pretty good, still turned out creamy and smooth without the churning. Think it was Nigellas.

Re: Ice cream at home ..

Sorry I only know recipes that use an icecream maker, but I just got nostalgic and remembered having a ‘mr frosty’ as a child

Re: Ice cream at home ..

Oh my, CB, that sounds so delish!! Wish I even made home made ice cream, my last attempt was back in August last year for Ramzan, it involved using a plastic bag with rock salt in one bag and then cream, vanilla extract, sugar, and then you shake vigorously for a certain amount of time until the cream turns hard, it actually worked, but it was not easy.

Another thing you can make is kulfi! check out Aarti Sequeiras’ recipe for kulfi -

Otherwise, better start saving money for an ice cream machine, lol.

Re: Ice cream at home ..

oo, that sounds good. I think I'm going to try that this summer season.

Rooh afza lolly's.

Re: Ice cream at home ..

I can make kulfi, but does anyone know how to make the desi mango icecream at home?

Re: Ice cream at home ..

Are you talking about this?

Re: Ice cream at home ..

Re: Ice cream at home ..

You can get vegetarian gelatin in any supermarket, right next to the normal gelatin. Failing that, health food shops always have it.
