What is this all about? BD beat Australia and gain only 2 points, but in next game if ENG beats Australia they get 3 points! Why? I thought if a team is at the bottom of pool and beats the top ranked team, they should get the maximum gain of points while if a team is ranked in middle of the pool and beats the top notch team will get slightly less number of points.
Anyone knows why is that?

We are 4th alongwith South Africa, both with 112 points.

It is no necessary that every time a team with lower ranking will get boost when it defeats a team with higher ranking. BD has ever failed to add points from their previous matches, so they are not much affected. ICC ranking system is very hard and confusing to undertand at times, but it is fair enough. Last 3 years' data is considered while calculating ratings. There are 3 main factors:
matches played, points earned and rating changed.
After each match:
Both teams gets some points added/removed,
Total points = Previous Point + Added Points (after the match)
then
rating ** = **Total points / matches played
Since BD did not had enough total points from their previous matches so even after beating Aus and getting most possible points from a single match, their rating is just affected by 2 points.
Pakistan has played more ODI matches than any other country in previous 3 years, and they have lost many of them (thus failing to add points), so their ranking is not affected much, even when they win, points added are to be divided on matches played to calculate ranking.

Against all established teams, Pak has always lost when it comes to summaries. Pak have only won every series against WI in regular cricket playing nations.
