Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
yep. I will put the onus on yonus !!
bad fielding, bad shot to get out himself...no leading from front in batting...
we should have gotten this target...
CAPTAIN1....I definitely miss INZI now...hats off to yousuf still..
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
Our bowlers conceded 99 runs in 10 overs. Thats where we lost the match. I still cant understand why Younis did not bowl Rana at the end. Despite his bad form with the new ball, he has been bowling effective yorkers in at the fage end of an innings quite consistently. Rao, Razzaq and Gul kept bowling length balls which were easy prey. Only one yorker was bowled in last seven overs. That speaks volume for torrid ten overs. We should stick with him for the next match because we dont have Shoaib and a death overs bowler IS needed. To top it off, Hafeez was not used at all when he was brilliant against Lankans albeit on a different kind of wicket. All in all poor execution by Younis but hopefully he will improve in next match.
There still were plus points. Yousuf continued his brilliant form and Malik is once again becoming the Malik we know.
Credit to blackcaps. We were in with a great chance but Bond and Vettori tied us in their second spells. That too with a wet ball. Awesome stuff that was :k:
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
How many thinking PAK is flying home after SA match...?
now having woolmer as a coach has not helped much PAK against SA has it?
we are so lazy in the field...
man....
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
He was monumental with his decisions. The decision to unleash Bond even with a wet ball was a top notch one and he delivered.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
Yes - great captain can win games by making the right decisions in the field and Fleming is one of them and had the score to play with.
Those who are criticisng Youni's captaincy, what difference would Inzi have made apart from his batting?
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
This is not the right time to compare Younis and Inzamam. First tournament is underway and Pakistan is very much init. Second, Inzamam have own ODIs with broken bowling line up.
I think Younis will take the same team with South Africa and hope for his team to play with passion and determination. If they play with resolve, they can beat South Africa. It is going to be one heck of a match.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
I didnt see the game but i am surprised to see that Afridi was sent ahead of Malik, Afridi is a non regular batsman and i dont see him batting @ # 5 when there are 30+ overs to bat, he would have been much more useful with 13 overs to go and Required rate of 7 or 8 R/O.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
no changes in the next game means younus is a kind of captain who won't learn from his mistakes, Rana is in bad form and it makes no sense to keep in the side for last few overs when any bowler can be hit, when he gives away easy runs in his first 5 overs he provides good foundation to pile runs to the opposition, Arafat shud replace him,
Afridi was not used for hiiting in the dead overs, how can you expect an explosive player like him going when 3 wickets are down to go for a long partnership, captain and woolmer both did poorply with their planning, I wish I hear from them what would be their explanation for this decision
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
…or he has his hands tied.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
The day Fleming retires from NZ-Cricket this Kiwi Team will be less than half of it's worth.
Look for an more intelligent captain than Fleming and at the moment u won't find any.
Well done NZ
Pak better luck next time
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
Exciting 3 games ahead. These 3 games will decide remaining 3 semi finalists. Awsome... Cant wait to watch all of them.
I think it is going to be AUS & South Africa.
Among India and West Indies, India has slight advantage due to home grouond factor.
Sorry guys..but I dont think Pak would make it to Semis. Simply because of absence of Akhtar and Asif is a big loss.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
different strategies by two different captions was the difference in one's defeat.Fleming was far superior.I still can't understand why hafeez was not given the ball. When Razzak was brought in the last five overs ,which captain would bring mid on and off up. when styris hit a four above mid on , he sent back mid on deep, only to see that next ball was hit on top of mid off which was still up. if I can figure this out ,why not the caption.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
yes fleming's captaincy was excellent, but you can expect that he is one of the best in the business and is very intelligent.the strategy to bowl shot pitch stuff to razzaq and co was a great move and it paid off.not having shoaib and asif hurt pakistan in this game as their bowling was badly exposed in the last 10 where they conceded 99.
Re: ICC Champions Trophy 8th Match: Oct 25th, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Mohali (D/N)
I would have to agree with Fair and Balanced here. Pakistan has about a 10% chance to make it to the semis. I think even in the presence of Asif and Akhtar we did not stand a chance against SA.
Australia and SA are a league apart. They do have their off days but are pretty consistent otherwise. Just the way they played against Sri Lanka was enough to convince me that Pakistan has a long way to go before we get to that stage. I hope my predictions are incorrect but i am hoping against hope here.
Finally we have this mental block against SA and Australia and have lost many times from winning positions in the past.
Still i am going to pray for Pakistan :) to win

I agree
but I would be happier if India lost today
