Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

I think I will finally sccumb to my long time urge to write a detailed post on why using Afridi as an opener is an approach for disaster, except in extreme circumstances. Hopefully as I get some time during the next few days...

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

With the way our openers are getting quck runs through ground shots alone, what possible need do you see for Afridi to come in and provide a sure quick wicket to our oppoents, dear desidudecool?

Wickets are what decide matches. Sri Lanka were on course to score 350 plus, but the loss of wicket(s) caused them to crash to 253.

NO matter how many runs Afridi scores, we know that he will get out after 5, 10 or at the most, 15 overs. Sure loss of a wicket opens up a potential gate for a battng collapse.

We don't have Ramiz Raja and Mudassar Nazar as our openers that we need a super-pinch-htter like Afridi up the order. We have already-too-agressive Farhat and Hafeez. Our nation needs to calm down!

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

Wao Farhat's shot selections are really nice, is it because he is in the subcontinent?

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

Sir jee as you type you forget what you wrote. The need for Afridi as an opener is because we don’t see this kinda treatment from our openers all the time infect its just here and there not consistant. So you need have all your options open.

Now why that ball from Malinga was not called wide? :konfused:

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

Sweet sweet shot. Vaas is getting some beating and I luv it.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

they are being aggressive thats why they are getting runs.afridi has been tried and was successful in india opening on these similar pitches so playing him here is not that big a risk as it was in england cause wickets here are flat ..in england conditions were different thats why he struggled.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur

this is a flat wicket srilanka did nt get enough.pak should win

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd Match: Oct 17th, Pakistan V Sri Lanka, Jaipur
