Haris Sohail must be wondering what he did wrong.

Got picked for back to back India and SA series but spent the whole series warming the bench! Then gets dropped thru no fault of his own. What a nice way to introduce a youngster to international cricket!

I used to like Misbah but lately I cannot help feeling frustrated with his negative and defensive style of odi cricket regarding team selections esp. his stubborness to pick more deserving young players in the team (rather than the same old non performing seniors)

I can name atleast FOUR players who should be in our ODI XI - Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Haris Sohail & Hammad Azam

Umar Akmal (I know it is 60% his own fault/did not really help himself with his reckless attitude towards batting, but his career seems to be going the same way as Fawad's). Incidentally he's our Best ODI batsman (ranked no. 15) & he has been dropped!!

I am afraid Misbah is going to leave this team in a limbo, 12 months before the 2015 World Cup, with his selfish attitude and stubborn selections resulting in not many young players getting enough international exposure before then

Its not that bad of a team bhai…only wrong players are Malik and Misbah where one can’t be omitted due to captaincy slot. However now is the time for Asad Shafiq and Umar Amin to pick up the middle order slots and Asad ali seems like an up and coming all rounder.

And Trent Woodhill…who’s this guy…? :hmmm:

Just those two!! What did Kamran Akmal do in India and South Africa to retain his place? Umar Akmal should be in the team. He can keep wickets as well.

Asad Shafiq will take Younis's slot (@1-down). But like Misbah he's more of a consolidator or stabilizer. Both cannot accelerate like UA, Shehzad or Jamshed. Even Hafeez is better in this regard. We do need one or two good stabilizers but we also need some good solid hitters in the team.

And why is Shehzad constantly being ignored by the selectors in the ODI format? He along with Hafeez were the reason why we scored close to 200 in the T20 game against South Africa. I would love to see him & Nasir Jamshed open for us in LOIs. (ODI + T20). Both are explosive and capable batsmen and they also provide a good left-right combination. Ideally Hafeez should bat at 3 followed by Asad, Umar Akmal and so on

No genuine all-rounder at 6 or 7. Where is Hammad Azam or Haris Sohail?

guys please dont just assume that selection committee is just a bunch of idiots … here is umar akmal’s latest record in last 10 matches..he did horrible horrible in recent domestic tournaments…i mean how can you select him..he is not doing any favor to himself after performing so bad

Yes Ahmed Shahzad inplace of Imran Farhat would be better and more reasonable choice.
Betting on Umar over Kamran is a toss up, but one that I agree with you that can be taken. Since Umar Akmal has more long term potential (although he has not shown it at all)

PD this is becuase UA is targeting test slot…he wants to show he can bat longer, which is what has disturbed his natural game.
See he is a proven ADD (attention deficit disorder) player while his natural game is stroke play with confidence. Its his ADD (driven from the culture of boom boom) is where he doesn’t know when NOT to hit and actually defend or take singles.
Still he has more potential then some other cruising losers.

You think Malik is the man, lets see, I just want you to comment on your own view once CT is done.

Most good international sides bat right down to 8 or 9 in ODIs. Our tail, starting at #8, is just too long - Farhat, Jamshed, Hafeez, Asad, Misbah, Kamran Akmal, Malik, Ajmal, Junaid, Irfan and Rehman/Ehsan Adil. Hafeez will bowl the other 10 overs

Imran Farhat (made 90 odd) did help Pakistan beat South Africa in the 4th one-dayer but he is just too inconsistent. Besides he does not have the technique to consistently do well in English conditions where the ball moves around a fair bit early on.

Pakistan struggle to chase 230+ at the best of times and this batting seams very thin. We might have to chase 300+ against India & South Africa. Our batting collapses almost every second or third game and there is no depth whatsoever to rescue us after a major collapse.

This should have been our team (This team bats down to 8)

Misbah really needs to quit ODIs after the CT. He is unlikely to play in the 2015 World Cup (will be almost 41 then). It is high time that we give newcomers such as Umar Amin, Haris Sohail and Hammad fair exposure at international level before the main event in 2015

farhat 90+ in the last match and umar is out of form & favor. His attitude didn't help him either.
